Funny this thread should show up today, I was working last night doing some security work near a local club and asked the police to pull over 2 seperate people who were clearly smashed off their faces. One of them managed to slump over his car before actually dragging himself off it and getting in

I can't understand why anyone would drink and drive, regardless of the quantity of alcohol or time of year.

The advert that had the biggest impact on me had a man drinking a full pint instead of a half. He crashes his car and ends up brain damaged. The ad ends with his mother spoon feeding him green mush.

This post has killed my Christmas spirit.

Good reminder.

Personally i think there should be a new law of ZERO alcohol introduced. If you cant arrange before hand for a lift from a non drinker, or a taxi then dont go out!

Under my new laws ANYONE caught drink driving would face a new charge of "attempted murder due to intoxicated driving" that carries a min of 5 years in the nick and a life ban from driving and a large fine that cannot be gotten out of... you earn a pittance? then youre eating smart price beans for a LONG time matey.

That should get the message home

Drink driving.... there is NO EXCUSE

EDIT: seems my humour is lost on some so ill have to point out i was making a poke at the britain of "1984" we are living in, where the mere thought of doing something wrong should get you locked up... i was actually under the influence of a few ciders when i wrote this in the first place

alcohol can be found in more than just drink which is why I think a zero limit is a bad idea. lower it maybe but not to zero

There's no point even lowering the limit. People i've seen/know who have driven drunk do so knowing they are well over the limit. I'd guess that most people that are only just over the limit aren't responsible for the most of accidents, it's the people that are hammered and have clearly totally disregarded the law.
