XMS3 timing help needed

No chance of getting my hands on another PSU unless I buy another one. I'm afraid I don't have any friends who are into PC's or who work for a PC business.

EDIT: The PSU calculator in the link you posted recommends a 435w PSU, this one is 700w so I presume it's more than enough even though it's not the greatest of PSU's?

True but it's not a great PSU so the reality is it may not be delivering it's rated wattage.

A quality branded 500W PSU will probably give better performance/power output than your generic 750W.

Then i would carry on playing around in the BIOS.

It could be the PSU - but buying a new PSU to test a theory is an expensive test.

IfAnd if it does turn out to be the PSU hopefully when it decides to finally stop working it will do so quietly as i doubt it will have many fail safes built in at that price...

Have you tried reseating your CPU ever?

Infact, i'd strip the motherboard completely and re-build to rule out any bad connections.

Always a solid suggestion - nothing like ruling out the basics first.

Even a CMOS reset and then reapplying the clock.

Process of elimination, with what you have to hand, is your only route without spare parts i'm afraid.

I've not stripped the PC, although I have changed over a few molex and sata plugs just incase one was faulty, I've also reseated the graphics card and the SB card along with the RAM. I think I will try resetting CMOS and reapplying the clock next.

HeX, here's the results.

Well it passed it OK, but you've got some strange fluctuations going on.

Your first loop is considerably faster than the rest (44Gflops), then you've got a section in the middle when your performance drops(33Gflops), before levelling out, and then dropping at the end again.

What kind of temps are you getting under load? and was anything else running at the time you were testing? were you using the PC at all?

On the first test I did have google chrome open (checking here)

Then about half way through I opened HWmonitor

Then I opened chrome to check here again

I realize my mistake now and I'll run it again without touching the computer! :D

Guys, just an update. Been running the system as it is (timings 8-8-8-20-27 1T) and the clock at 3.6ghz and it's been great. No blue screens, crashes, freezes or anything. Thanks so much for the help, you guys are legends!
