Hey guys,

Im getting a lot of static crackling when playing music (through iTunes) and im confused as to whats causing it. Im almost certain its my card as when I use my USB headphones I don't get the issue.

Also its worth noting that when im playing games I can sometimes get REALLY bad sound static, especially when theres a lot of graphical processing going on.

Any ideas what could be causing this? Its driving me mad!

Thanks in advance!

Has this happened since you had the sound card, or has it come about since you installed a new component?

It does sound like the GPU is the culprit to me as it appears to get worse when the GPU is at full pelt. GPUs are one of the most common sources for interference when using a sound card.

Ive had the experience since ive had the card to be honest. Its usually pretty good but on some games it will consistantly do it. EVE online for example will always give me sound issues when docked in a station.

Music has never really been a huge issue but right now it is.

I have 2 GTX580 cards so perhaps thats what it is. Is there any way to sort it out if that is the case?

Also I can't try any other slots on my mobo because I have 3 PCI slots and 2 are being used by my GPU's, which cant be changed as they physically won't go in the slots any other way.

You could just take the GPUs and to try the sound card in other slots, just to see if it is interference.

Could also maybe try a different power connector to the card as well, just in case it's a dodgy power connection.

Unfortunately I can't re-arrange the cards as it doesn't physically work for some reason. They only go in as they are (really strange I know).

Ill have a go at changing the power cables.

Just had a lot of feedback (more than normal) trying to play simcity... Definately something going on.

Well I don't mean re-arranging them, I mean just try it with one GPU and slot the D2X where the other card originally is.

I had a some trouble with my Xonar when I first had it, mainly when cranking up the sound. I found once I disabled my onboard sound in the bios the problems disappeared.
