XP Cororate Question

none,

xp corp is xp pro, but with no authentication issues, how did you manage to get hold of it though lol

it is exactly that, used on a corporate license. not for home users lol

Oh i got it from a mate who uses it at work a lot, dunno if thats good or no lol
Thus meaning it isn't licensed to you at all...

Not that it won't work, I just doubt that your mate's employer's site license covers your house - so it'll be 'technically' illegal.

Saying "it will be 'technically' illegal" implies that you think there's no ethical problem with it - which is ridiculous, it's an unlicensed copy, using it is entirely illegal and unquestionably wrong. Topic should be closed now.

i thought if i used my PC for work i do for them ( sorry should have been a little clearer on how i know my mate) then that would be covered by the EULA!?! If not then i have no intention of using an illegal copy of windows, as my current legal copy is perfectly adequate

I said technically, because it is a licensed copy - the license has actually been paid for, and possibly could cover the OP if he did work for them - it's hard to know, I don't know the terms of the site license. It's not quite the same as downloading it off the 'net and using some dodgy cd key.

But, that said, it's still most probably illegal - if you've got your own copy of windows already, use that. It's exactly the same as XP Pro anyway.

lol to put it simply it would be an illegal copy.

also depending on what key he has given you if its for his company where he works you may be ok installing and updating it.

But if its one of the well known keys on the net then it will be blocked and will not update for you.

Corp still needs to authenticate when installing some updates and such from ms update.

But its not like the normal xp authentication.

No its an authentic, legally purchased license by the company, think i will leave it till i look through the agreement, like i said NO interest in illegal sofware... firm believer in paying for what i want lol, least im covered that way!

Have you got XP Pro already? As already stated, there is absolutely no difference other than XP Corp doesn't need activation.

XP Home... the only reason it would be worth it... Even then the reasons are small and limited. I dont need networking or remote services... I will quite happily continue to use home, somehow does not seem worth it lol.

Hmmm,
Im licensed by Reuteurs then...

Got a copy of a mate who works there lmao, mind I don't use that copy anymore, use X64 now.

is the 64bit edition worth the £93.94 then? coz i'd like to get the most out of dual core. But does that mean you need 64bit software to use on it i.e does that render all my current apps/games useless?

did you even read what he said?

He actually works for said company. You could be covered, but its prolly not likely.

Dont get 64 bit version, its a complete wasste of time. Just get Pro (but if you have home, theres no point upgrading it unless you really want/need the extra features esp after sp2)
