I use Kasperasky Internet Security which combines firewall with anti-virus .

At just over £11 for a year a bargain imo

No. Zone Alarm software is BROKEN, not just the standard firewall but also their corporate offerings. Accept it. It is true. Note that I haven't said anything about your suggested AV client. I said nothing because I don't know anything about it. On that front I can only say that I do not recommend Symantec.

I have to say that I became disillusioned with Spybot about 3 months ago, when it became clear it was no longer the best malware scanner. I stopped using it after that - has it regained its position or has it continued to lag behind?

I don't know about there suite, my flat mate has it seems to work ok but I haven't seen any stats to say exactly how good it is, I just know that their firewall is good but, I think well agree to disagree dude sorry but Ive had no Issues with it....

depends on the testing etc .... ill digg out the custom pc mag tommorow

looks like theres conflicting reports about xp, my bad ive read a few things that said one thing clearly nows theres others

Cool, I've never had a problem with AVG, but I wouldn't know if it wasn't working would I lol

Personally I don't use any third party firewall anymore because with your ports stealthed you're pretty much safe from anything coming to your PC, you just have to be careful with what's on your PC, and prevention is always better than cure in that department.

I use Comodo Internet Security. Free and very resource freindly. Used to use Avast until it let a nasty through but it was slow anyway. Zonealarm just sucks. I used it for a while until i found there were far better Firewalls available.

I think you misunderstand me. I am not making a judgement on whether Zone Alarm works well. You may well be right that it does a good job for you, and most other people. However it is broken because it breaks the internet connection for a significant minority of users due to a fault in its design.

Just because it is working for you doesn't mean it is not broken - if the brakes on a car had a design fault and 10% of drivers died as a result would you say that the design fault doesn't exist because the brakes still work for you and your friends?
