Is this a problem? Currently i have:

Primary Master IDE: N/A
Primary Slave IDE: WD 320GB
Secondary Master IDE: Plextor DVD-ROM
Secondary Slave IDE: NEC DVD-RW
Third Master IDE: WD Raptor 74GB? (it is connected to the SATA input on my mobo?!?)

When i went to format the Raptor everything went as planned, however when i got into Windows the Raptor was the H: and won't change in disk maintenance as it is a system disk now?

When I format, I disconnect all other drives so that only my Raptor shows up. I think when you format, the setup utility puts IDE drives as a higher preference than SATA drives, thats why I always unplug them:)

Street is right, when you build a system try to run it in minimum configuration first and add the extras later.

The only problem you may have is that some installers insist on installing into C:/Program Files. You may not have that, as you don't have a drive on the primary master, and probaly don't want program files on the Maxtor 250.

Not sure why you have made that drive the slave. I think it will work , but might cause problems since that controller has no master drive.

Great thanks all! I took the 320GB drive out and hey prestO! it worked. :)

Just one more quick question, my Raptor is on the third IDE master? Is that ok, i mean it's not IDE is it?

Yeah, IDE means Intergrated or Intelligent Drive Electronics. Every SATA drive comes under that, you wont lose performance or speed cos its classed as IDE. I have the same situation on my PC. Nothing to worry about :)

Just realised that i had a Mass Controller which was without a driver in my Devices Manager. Took me a while to figure out, but went straight to Asus's site and got me the latest SATA driver and voila! Sometimes these things are right under ya nose. :D

You can just change the drive letters around, dont need to go unplugging everything everytime you format your PC =/

You cannot change 'system' partitions letters around easily which is exactly what the partition that has your OS on will be.

Yup, but it is easy to correct.

Unplugging everything except the windows drive and then booting up automatically switches it to C: and then just reconnect all other drives and restart - hey presto! :D

Ehh  Have you personally done that ??? I find that very hard to believe especially if the drive has partitions like it should!!

Yup - I did that. It worked! I think it only works though if your windows drive has only 1 partition.

My C: was originally F: and I unplugged and booted up with just windows and it was recognised as C:
