Odd that Sony didn't announce this at CES :confused:, in terms of weight and size this looks like it could be a potential iPad 5 competitor depending on the price of course.



Specs,

10" @ 1920x1200 (using the Mobile Bravia Engine 2)

495grams and only 6.9mm thick,

Waterproof and Dust-proof,

1.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor,

2GB RAM,

32GB storage,

8.1-megapixel Exmor R camera,

Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, LTE

6,000 mAh battery.

Very good weight and depth for a 10" tablet imo, and pretty respectable specs, seems Sony are stepping up their game with their latest phone and tablet announcements.

32GB internal storage space with microSD card slot - well done Sony.

The only negative I can think of right new is that the battery is a tiny bit on the small side (though weight is 100g less than most 10" tabs).

Looking good. Needs to be £399 or less for me.
 
Love the look of this device, so slim and sexy... Just don't think it's going to stack up against the nexus 10 in price, power or battery life.
 
Does have a certain sleekness to it most tablets lack - also like the integrated functionality with the Z phone especially the way you can seamlessly transfer what your currently doing between them on the fly.
 
Anyone getting one of these? They are due mid may £400 for 16gb and £450 for 32 which I don't think is too bad. Have decided to give it a go as it seems quite powerful and obviously light and sleek, this will be going from a nexus 10 so it has some big boots to fill.

I think the screen is going to be better than the nexus in most ways other than the resolution.

The question is though... Black or white?

It's not much of a bother to me as most of my usage is in the house anyway where it's usually always topped up.

Edit: Actually I just double checked, 32GB is available for preorder in white.

Just a heads up for anyone with one of these (or anything else Sony on order). The website was down most of Sunday for purchases so Sony have given a 10% off code valid until the 23rd April. The code is "SORRY2013".

I have cancelled my pre order of a 16gb Z and reordered the 32GB one for £404. The code brings the 16gb one down to £360.
 
I missed that deal, I'm still going to get one of these asap but waiting around to see if some kind of deal arises somewhere, US gets a deal on the tablet + dock, would definitely go for that as I want to get the nice dock too. With quidco it's not that bad of a price.

That is great news. Only a week or so until it arrives so I'll see what the stock software is like first though.
 
Has anyone ordered this? There does not seem to be much hyper regarding this tablet here? Is this because the Google Nexus is better?
