Xperia Tablet Z

Does anyone have any good screen protectors for this? Made a mark on the screen protector applied to it as it comes and want to replace it...

Yeah I'm using this:

"Tech Armor Premium High Definition HD Clear Screen Protector for 10.1-inch Sony Xperia Z Tablet "

Thinking of getting one, I have long wanted a device to literally bathe with (I have Sonos/ceiling speakers in my bathroom celing and would love to control/read in the bath).

Has anyone done this with one, and does the touchscreen become unusable in water?

It loses its ingress protection if you have the headphone or other sockets uncovered though I guess you'd use BT or something.

Can't say I'd feel comfortable taking it in the bath with me though, not managed to get mine wet but seen a couple of videos where they dipped them in water and the touchscreen became somewhat erratic until wiped off.

Would not need to use the sockets, it's through the Sonos app via Wifi. More to be able to pick it up in a wet area and not worry about it.

Annoying about the water making it almost ununsable, though nice to have on the side of the bath perhaps. They seem to come up refurbed from time to time at decent prices.

I have a bluetooth A2DP adapter I use with my Tablet Z in the bath, with the sound coming through bathroom speakers. It works well - just have to make sure your hand is dry when controlling it.

How are people finding the battery life on these? Mine seems to have got worse since the last update.

Also picked up the cradle and I'm pleased with it.

Probably 10ish hours, which lasts me about 3 days. Burns through very little battery on standby just a fair bit when it's on

Really want one of these but dunno if to hold out for any replacements or the nexus 10 2 - if they're even doing it!

This or the Note 10.1 2014?

Won't be using it in the bath so that's not a useful feature to me.

I went from the Xperia Z to the Note 10.1... I think it's down to preference...

Benefits of the Xperia:
* It is lighter and the weight is more even distributed, it's more well balanced.
* It's thinner
* It's waterproof
* It has very close to stock Android

Benefits of the Note:
* The screen is much brighter, more colourful and sharper although the pentile effect is noticeable. It also "pops" more than the Z's screen. Though saying that the Z's screen is not dim or unsaturated, they're both leaps ahead of the N10 screen.
* More powerful, this is important if you're going to be playing a lot of high end games but the Xperia is no slouch, it's just as responsive as the Note but the note has more pure grunt.
* S-pen, I enjoy using the S pen, it's not a massive bonus but it is a really nice feature and some people do love it.
* The Note is smaller width wise, the xperia is very wide, like really long.
* Note has all those samsung multitasking things but tbh I never really use those much.
* Better battery life (I still need to install a monitor app) seems to do a lot better than the xperia. I think this is a weight compromise on the xperia...
* I like the fact that it has buttons so that some of my screen isn't taken up by the black bar.

All round I guess my impression is that the Note is a serious tablet with an awesome screen, battery, power and feature set. But when I go an pick up the xperia it feels lighter and much better in the hand, it definitely feels nicer than the note.

If you're not bothered about epic specs then go with the xperia, it is a great tablet to use. If you want to be blinded by power and the mega bright screen then go for the note.

The most recent update seems to have dropped battery life a bit :( I still get 8-9 hours of moderate to heavy use out of it though but could manage upto 10 hours before on previous firmwares.

While I'd agree with Skyfall's comparision (though screenwise I've not really compared them side by side and the only thing I noticed were the whites were a bit less "dull") unless I had a need for the performance (and so far the Xperia hasn't left me wanting there) theres no way I'd touch the note over the xperia just coz its so well balanced in the hand and from that regard feels like a newer generation of tech :S

The whites on the note's screen are a lot better due to the RGBW arrangement...

More than anything it's the screen that sells me on the note, the xperia screen is good but the note's is on another level. Mostly images and Web pages look better, movies there's not a lot of difference.

But the xperia is still a really good tablet. As Rroff said it's a great device to actually hold. As with most things it's best to try it for yourself.

I agree, the Z's screen is good but it just doesn't pop like the Note's.

Hopefully there is a Z replacement on the horizon as I'm not a fan of the Note in general.
