Simple aerodynamics: Air flows from high-pressure areas to low-pressure areas. The rear of the bonnet/bottom of the screen is an area of high pressure, under the bonnet is low pressure.
Why do you think so many cars have inlets on the scuttle for the heater et cetera? Or why some race cars use a cowl inlet (bonnet bulge open at the very rear)?
Popping the rear edge of the bonnet screws up the airflow through the radiator (and intercooler if you have one) so really it has zero benefits...And it makes you look like a tool
Just had a thought - if you have a FWD car with the exhaust at the front (Honda or similar) and have ITBs fitted then you could pop the trailing edge of the bonnet, blank it all off apart from a small section and have an intake to a plenum for the ITBs...But other than that, why would you want to do it?
