Yakuza 0

I bought this also.

Hoping it's not a poor man's GTA but we'll see. If anything it looks like Sleeping Dogs which was rather good.

Anyway I got run over by the hype train and pre-ordered which is a first for me!

Don't even think for a moment that it'll be similar to GTA or Sleeping Dags. This is a RPG in a small town so try not to think of it as a sandbox like the other two titles. It's brilliance lies in a tight knit storyline with great characters, lots of fighting, oddball Eastern humour and a lot of content.

The Cabaret club is addictive as hell so be sure to spend a lot of time earning money there! It is a superb series. Got both Zero and Kiwami on my PS4 Pro so far.

Cool :)

Is the PC version dubbed or is it subs?

It absolutely not a poor man's GTA or Sleeping Dogs. Actually better than both, as much as I liked them. Fun, quirky, addictive, massive amounts of content, brutal combat, very decent story and feels old-school. And hilarious sidequests Must play, IMO.

Think I will stick with the PS4 version. That way I don't have to wait for the other ones to be released, and also no Denuvo.

That kyabakura management was stupid and addictive as hell:p I must've put well over 100h into the Japanese version and still haven't managed to complete everything:D

Looking forward to importing Kiwami 2 after I wrap up GoW and Yakuza 6 (both mostly done). Though I bought HZD Complete in the PS Store Summer sale but it can wait:p

I actually finished it from what I recall. Took on the last club, which was very difficult but I got there! Sadly I had to stop clubbing because I needed to focus on the rest of the game. I reckon I put in more time at the club than my entire playthrough of Kiwami!

I keep getting confused with all the localised Yakuza's coming out - I only have 2 of them so far. I downloaded a very short demo (psn) of Yakuza Kiwami 2 recently and I know you know your stuff. Am I right in saying Kiwami 2 takes place after Kiwami? (probably obvious but I'm not 100% on this).

I think the series starts off as Yakuza Zero > Yakuza Kiwami > Yakuza Kiwami 2 >??

Yes, it goes 0->K1->K2. K2 is a remake of 2 on the Dragon Engine, the same that 6 uses but with improvements.

6 is the last one and takes place after 5 but they made it so standalone (not that good a move, IMO) that you don't really need to know much, except a couple of characters (who are even introduced to you through short recaps).
You don't really need to play K2 before 6 and K2 is the better of the two so it's better to play it last.

As for 0, I mean I finished both of those big sidequests for Kiryu and Majima but still wasn't able to wrap up all the side stuff at well over 100h, massive game:D

This is the first time I've pre-ordered something on Steam. When do you get to play? 0001 on the day of release? Or do they stick to some weird Valve time so otherwords Thursday?

On the Steam page:

Available: 1 August
This game will unlock in approximately 1 day and 3 hours

Ha, thanks. I was only looking in my library rather than the store page. So that's about 3pm on Wednesday then.

There's an older thread here also with a link to an even cheaper pre-order price. Although having the Steam refund option in place just in case may be worth the extra £4.
