YAMAHA YHT1810 vs PIONEER HTP072

Sorry with all the questions, for the sub I brought some 3m white and red cable from maplin, was in a rush just to get it all up and running..

You think I should also replace this cable with something better?
Yes/No/Maybe... ha ha ha

Cheaply made cables have poor shielding. They act as an aerial and that can then let in interference which manifest as hiss or buzzing. The sources of the interference vary, but a common one is induction noise from mains cables and poorly screened power supplies.

However, you should only change your sub cable if you can hear these problems from the sub. What's the situation for you?

Sub to me sounds normal, nice punchy base when you would expect and complete silence when nothing playing..

Am just not sure on the quality of maplin am not one to normally shop there but had no choice. Lol

Well if it's standard quality long phono cables then the quality won't be anything to write home about. The impedance could be anything, but that's less important than the shielding.

If you want to change the cable for your piece of mind then (IMO) you have to try and find something that's actually made to a standard that's worth buying. There aren't many companies other than Mark Grant Cables where you can see the inner structure of what they're selling. This stuff on Ebay is an exception. Check out the feedback comments too.
