Yanny or Laurel?

Can only hear Laurel - whether listening in stereo or even just the left hand side. I have to take out quite a bit more of the frequency range before I hear anything like Yanny.

"Laurel" doesnt exist at all on the left channel.... You've got issues somewhere. Left = high passed at 1.4khz / 48db per octave. You should only hear something like yanny. Right = Low passed at 1.4khz / 48db per octave. You should only hear Laurel.

Using VLC and playing in Stereo I also get Laurel. If I change Audio Stereo Mode to Left, then I still hear Laurel, just slightly higher pitch. Listening to just Right, is obviously Laurel with a much lower tone.

I'm not sure you've quite done what you think needs to be done. Was there a reason you picked 1.4kHz? I've definitely heard Yanni when other people have stripped out and isolated certain components of the audio range in the original sample.

I keep hearing Yanny, or more sound accurately: "Yeah Ni". Switched to different speakers, headsets, all the same. Finally went to one of the sites that auto changed it and basically had to turn the modification all the way (to making it sound like Laurel) nearly before I could hear Laurel.

Dunno what that says about my ears.

Yeah everyone here who hears Laurel says the same.

I can't hear anything remotely like Yanny at all without cutting out most of the file while 1-2 people here start to hear it on lower quality audio devices but they can still hear Laurel as well.

I think what makes it super weird, having heard both, is that it really is a crystal clear “yanny” and a crystal clear “laurel” :D it’s not it ‘sort of sounds like it’. So odd.

I've heard Yanny DISTINCTLY and Laurel DISTINCTLY but on different devices.

So it is the source.

For some people it is the source for others it isn't as big a factor - my mum distinctly hears Yanny every time on the same devices the rest of my family hear Laurel - I've never heard Yanny distinctly except on the slowed down version.

For some the source seems to be enough to tip it over the edge - some of my family can hear Yanny on their mobile phone speaker, etc. while they hear Laurel when played on (proper) speakers (while I distinctly hear Laurel on both of those).

I can hear both and pretty much hear which one I want to hear by saying the word to myself in my head first. Same with the brainstorm and green needle one.
