YAY BE!

You're already on LLU if you're with Be :) All their connections are LLU.

A new router won't dramatically improve your line..but may make a small difference. I presume you've not got it plugged into an extension/whatever?

The reason I say to downgrade from Pro is:

On BeUnlimited your max upload is ~1300 kb/s

On BePro your max upload is ~2500 kb/s

Your line only seems to be connecting at 1000kb/s

So there's no point in paying extra money for something that your line isn't good enough to take advantage of.

Gonna sound gimpy , but what diffrence does the upload make? so the better (or more stable upload ) = better ping ? etc

Not really. The only time you'd see an improvement would be if you were uploading a file to someone/somewhere. The ping would be unaffected.

So with your current upload you could potentially upload a file at 1000 k/s (100KB/sec). If you got the maximum out of the "Upload Plus" on BePro, you could upload at 2500 k/s (250KB/sec). However, with your line stats I suspect the best you'd ever get would be 1200 kb/s (120KB/sec) or 1300 kb/s (130KB/sec), which you can get on BeUnlimited.

I'm on BE, I've used be pro, and I got 2800KBPS upload, but it took a bigger chunk out of my downstream than I was happy with. At the moment, with BE's own router.

I'm getting 22.5MB download, and 1.3MB upload. I used a have an old linksys router that would sync at 23.5MB but it broke.

Any suggestions for a router that'd bring my speed back up, and has a lot more functionality than the speedtouch one BE uses?

Two options:

Cheap one:

Buy a Sky-branded Netgear DG834GT from an auction site and reflash it with the DGTeam firmware. Highest sync you'll get with your line and nice features with the DGTeam firmware. (£10-£15)

More expensive but better:

Buy an AM200 modem and a Linsys WRT54GL. Flash the WRT54GL with the Tomato firmware. This in combination will give you the same sync speed as the GT but the Linksys with the Tomato firmware has far more advanced features. (Not sure of price in total. Prob at least £50)

lol i seem a right pain i think , asking to move to unlimited & to go to static IP

hmmm think ill stay dynamic anyways as i use gmail for my email etc.

I'd still go static - when Be had a few problems a while back, those on static IPs had a better time of it than those that don't.

Don't worry about seeming a pain - The Be agents are generally quite nice :)

put in a ticket , gonna wait and see! ... hmmz hope it doesnt cause and outage!

Lol :p

I made all requests related to that sort of thing through the ticket system when I was on Be - unless something is urgent it's far easier to just issue a ticket and wait (and then ring/slap them if it doesn't get done in a few hours)

Well all part n parcle of there job i guess! :D

Extremaly happy with the service tbh , cant believe how smoothe its gone.

Well if they have the backing of Be , im sure they will be just as good!

meh , i hate it when i have to change my saved passwords (email ) to sites ... re doing email as ukfsn are no more .!

Just noticed this also

What is Upload Plus?

Upload Plus utilizes Annex M of the ADSL 2+ standard and allows you to upload files at up to 2.5meg, rather than the standard (up to) 1.3meg. The reason for this is that in order to increase the upload speed we must use some of the frequencies that were previously used for downloading. Upload plus is only available for Be pro members.

i didnt order this so .... would it make any diffrence?

I'm getting envious now

Grrrr I'm waiting for my email to come from O2 - getting frustrated now was put through on Monday by z0mbi3

*twiddles thumbs*

I'm currently synced at 12327 / 1351 with fastpath and a 3dB profile (real speed 1250kB/s \ 130kB/s) Think it'swoth me trying Upload+? Do I ask for Annex M to be enabled if I do?
