...mp3 player, but what's the best? i need one that will hold a few 1000 songs, video playback would be nice, under 200 quid would be plenty i'm sure. i have narrowed it down to:

- Apple iPod - 30GB - Video/Black - (5th Generation)
- Creative ZEN Vision:M 30GB MP3 / Video Player - Black
- Sony NWA3000B 20 GB HDD Walkman - Black

as you can see i want it to be in black.
anyone have these? any key flaws with them?

i love the look of the sony but seems a bit pricey not to have video playback, ipods tend to break, and don't like the looks of the zen but it's probably best.

any other suggestions would be great.

That's cos it is :) Best DAP around atm tbh. Better off searching for the players on this very forum though as this question gets asked almost every two weeks.

You can get the vision:m for about £180 like me. I've got more videos then mp3s on mine right now and I can't goto work without it. I just stick music vids/progs recorded off digitv onto mine, as well as old stuffs like fools & horses.

Even better. Do your research though, the Vision:m is the best of the bunch you mentioned but can you live without iTunes support? If you can't and want simplicity and synching and all that lark then an ipod is for you.

If you want multiple video/audio formats, a radio, and a voice recorder then check out the zen. I wrote a mini Review of mine a while back.

ok atm i have about 10gigs of music. so say how many like tv shows (videos) would 15gig be? or how many films could it hold?

and btw cheers for the review Kainz gonig to read it now

I only stick 30min shows/cartoons on mine as anything longer is kinda useless to me as it distracts me from work. Watching lengthy vids isn't too practical either as it kills the battery too. It really depends on the size of your video files. My music vids that I convert to xvid take up about 40-90mb and I've got about 30 of those. I can't go into this too deep as I could get the thread locked.

Just checked my player and I've got 10gb left on mine.

if yo want size for around £220/230 u can get a new ipod 80 gig video from airports where there is no tax...thats what ive heard

So whos going to pay for the holiday so you can get into the departure lounge for the tax free gear? Surely the cost of the holiday defeats the point of saving the £20 for the player :p

Anyways, get the Zen, I love mine to bits, great sound quality and pretty customizable compared to the ipod, and a much much better screen too.

the creative zen is the best no doubt for its features

but

i would still get an 80gig ipod...my friend bought one for £240 from the internet...

I somehow doubt that.
And even if its sound quality was somewhere near as good as you say, it doesnt discount the bad battery life compared to a dedicated MP3 player & the questionable camera compared to competing phones. ;) But thats a different story, and in regards to its MP3 abilities only, it hardly compared to a dedicated MP3 player.

How can you even remotely compare a mobile phone to a proper mp3 player. Sorry but as mobile phones go, they're phones and in no way comparable to any mp3 player at all.
