They've finally been release 'Worldwide' and I've seen the 100Gb one on offer for £80 (not in stock  ) Please, please, please tell me OcUK are going to get some of the new Seagate Momentus 7200.2 laptop drives in. They are truely awesome:

Performance figures Here
Nearly 60mb/s with tiny power requirements (for a 7200.x drive!) - I want one :D

nice, though i'd rather get a hybrid drive when they're finally released.

a 160gb 7200rpm is nice (iirc the biggest 7200rpm was a hitachi 100gb) but i prefer the quietness/less heat of the 5400rpm drives.

Operating shock: 300 Gs

While I have to admire their style and forethought, I am a little worried that they think I need a drive capable of withstanding 300G shock while operating.

G-Force Protection
protects the hard drive against shock by sensing
when the system is in a free-fall state, moving the
heads off the platter and locking them in place.

I guess that's a no-no for the Space Shuttle then :p

"Buzz, will you put her into a spin for me, the damn harddrive has gone to sleep again!"

It's quite possible to subject an object to such high g-forces from a short drop, as little as 4' or so. It's not the speed that it hits the ground or the height from which it falls that counts, it's in the time in which the object decelerates to 0m/s.

If a laptop hits a concrete pavement from a moderate height the drive would be subjected to such a force.
