Yet ANOTHER graphics card problem for £160-£200

know this is a question that many people ask, but my question is not too broad as i have the few options that i would go for (open for suggestions, as long s there is a good reason :D)

My main concerns are noise level and heat, but really heat only concerns me if it is going to heat up the air in my case, if the card hits 80C, but is quiet and exhausts the air out of the back of the case, i really don't mind.

really my choices are, of course, the 560 Ti and the 6950 specifically these ones

EVGA 560 TI DS (~£200)

EVGA 560 Ti reference (~£180)

im not sure which to get out of these 2, if the reference cooler will keep it cool and quite with a bit of OCing then i will go for that for sure, if not, i will have to go with the DS. also i chose EVGA because i hear they have an excellent warranty for overclockers

And then the 6950, this will be the cheapest reference 2GB model i can get, probably XFX (~£200)

i will only consider the 6950 if the noise levels are very low, i will only unlock the shaders, not the full 6970 flash

i am confident with overclocking so i am happy with OCing them myself

thanks in advance, and sorry for posting this question again, you are all probably sick of it :P

Welcome to the forums :)

EVGA do have really good CS, however, unless you plan to liquid cool/remove the stock cooler, there are other brands worth considering.

Unless you tell them you overclock - they will never know

My reccomendations:

And obviously the EVGa cards

is the 6950 really worth the extra price? i mean it is a lot (for me) more than the reference 560 Ti. and also is the stock cooler on the 560/6950 enough? and thank you (:

The 560's are pretty cool as they are and overclock like beasts. If you're on a budget, then I would go for the EVGA 560ti with a reference cooler. The normal coolers are fairly silent. The DS version is mainly for people who want to overclock the ******** of their card.

Also, what res do you use?

Make sure you are looking at 560 Ti's and not just normal 560's :)

If I had £200 to spend I would without doubt buy a pair of 5850's and crossfire. £200 and you will outperform a 580. noise won't be an issue and there are plenty of 5850's that exhaust all the heat out the back.
The only reason not to go down this road is if you are against the idea of crossfire and having the odd possible issue with a game or 2. If you want bang for your buck though it can't be beaten.

dont worry i am looking at Ti's :P , my main monitor is 1080p and my second monitor is 1440x900

the 5850 idea sounds great, but i cant find any for anywhere near £100 unfortunately

one is a 5830 and one would take me £60 over budget :( i think im still gonna have to go with the 560, i have a pretty strict budget of £200, or i could go for the 480 but that makes such a noise

for that price go for the 560. An unlockable 6950 2gb is probably another 20 quid or so above budget, and the 480 is far too hot/loud for you, so a 560 it is. They clock like right bastads and run cool, so you should be alright.

Personally, I'd always be wary about buying a card with 1gb of Vram on it though, there are a few games now which use more than 1gb of ram at 1080/1200p, and that number is set to grow. Could you hang back for a bit and save some extra for a card with more Vram in it?
