Thanks guys, really chuffed with the magazine article, the response i got when i first told a few people i was writting it was a bit negative, i think they thought i would dwell on the past. But now its out the response has been amazing, lots and lots of positive comments even from the people the frowned at first. The other two pages which im not gonna post contain the rebuild story.
But the main reason i agreed to write it after they asked was so i could get the blue columnb down the side to thank those who i will never know and never meet again who helped me. Also to inspire people not to let things get you down, there always is light at the end of the tunnel. I had a horrific time over the past year recovering mentally and physically but its made me such a better person with such a more positive outlook on life, i dont regret a thing.

nice vid. love the random laughing at other cars

I'll decide what to do with the front once the rest of the car is done.
got all the glass in now exterior is pretty much finished.
it does look really good
But i've had my first accident.
Im totally gutted, its not major, its not big but its a blemish and im in deep depresion. Spot who used too long a bolt.

Pity about the bolt accident, what happened there?.
Did you ever manage to get any pics of your unfortunate extrication from the crash?.
I did a whole lot of digging around at Stirling fire station and on our main computer system for the brigade, but came up with nothing.
I assume the Polaroid pics are still at Stirling Royal or something.

cheers mate, nah i aint managed to source anything, i think they are in my file in stirling but no one is able to tell me, so unless i use the data protection act and go up and demand to see my file not likely to find them.
The bolt accident was due to me using the wrong bolt in the wrong place, the item is soft cast alloy, very easy to over tighten and strip which i was being weary of didnt notice the bolt was too long for the casting and concentrating too much on not stripping it that i went through.
Just seats carpets and a roof to go, seats aint showed up yet and carpet makers are shut for the bank holiday. Customize the hood is tomorrows job to try and get it to clear the massive roll bar.

Smaller bolt fitted bit of filler, should be ok, cowel will need to be resprayed but there is a few bits and pieces i want fixed anyway.
Biggest problem of the weekend, i was told the softop frame would no way fit due to the race spec roll bar, now i dont listen to people that say cant, there is always a way, So sure enought i got the softtop on today, frame doesnt fit, so i modify it, scrap that idea, end up making a whole new frame out of alloy thinner than previous, it works awesome, but what did i forget!
The roll bar takes up so much space up the rear there is no where to folt the hood to, so it would be hanging out the back which looks stupid and would flap around.
So now i have a dilema, run it as a roadster and risk getting wet all the time, isnt really an option as i plan on doing long trips.
Make a removeable hood, again there is no easy way of doing it, and it just sags if you make it collapseable to fit in the boot.
So the soloution....
make me one of these.
dont imagine it will be difficult, just gonna chop up the old metal hardtop and run some channels and then clips to hold it together, the result should be cool, the pieces of the targa will fit in the boot or behind the seats and you get the best of both worlds. Also means a quick pit stop if it rains rather than faffing about.

Just like in MR2s and CRXs if I'm right, solid piece of roof that can be removed.
Looks like a good way of getting round it all and not making it look silly.
