You should always buy a new controller.

There's a saying that goes something like this "You should always invest in a good pair of shoes and a good bed as you in either of them for your entire life."

Now from a gamers point of view I'd say if buying a controller always buy a new official one as no matter what game your playing you'll be using that controller. My PS3 controller for my 60gb PS3 was poo. It felt cheap and if you pressed a direction on an analog stick sometimes my char would keep walking even when I released the the analog stick. I don't know if they were all badly made or I was just unlucky. Anyway I bought a new Dualshock 3 today. I haven't tried it yet as I'm tired. I do hope it was worth it. Normally nothing beats that new controller feeling.

Unofficial controllers look kak in my opinion.

I was under the impression that you couldn't buy unofficial wireless controllers without having to resort to USB dongles on any of the current gen consoles. An even bigger reason not to bother.

The DS3 is miles better than the non duelshock sixaxis though.

I've always bought official controllers. There's nothing worse than going round a mate's house to play Pro Evo and you have to put up with some POS Madcatz controller. :p

Same. I hate unofficial controllers - in fact I hate most unofficial accessories. They just never "look right" on or with the console.

Even when I had a 360, and I bought play and charge kits, I would only go official. This was much to the disgust of the shop worker, who was clearly being told to push their own brand. He asked if I wanted an unofficial, cheaper one, I said no, I got a "Hmph, waste money then".

Oh goodness isn't the PS3 pad horrible for first Person Shooters? :-( It feels so awkward like the sticks aren't placed right. I think it may be due to the 8 and 16 bit era controller with two analog sticks glued on to it design. After leaving keyboard and mouse I got use to the 360 pad pretty quickly.

Terrible.

Must say I always tend to buy official stuff too, it just fits right.

Only non official thing I have bought was a PS2 memory card because it was one of those double jobbies. 16Mb instead of 8Mb?

I bought one second hand their was nothing wrong with it, but then again, I ripped it apart for the PCB :D. I will usually buy official controllers second hand, never ever buy third party controllers as they're mostly cack.

No, no it's not.

Should have said "Tell you what I'll pass and go buy it from X shop instead if that's your attitude" within earshot of his manager.

Could have, but it was a lot cheaper than other places, and I don't really care much about grumpy shop assistants, I just ignore them. :)

Best way tbh.
