Your bad driving encounters

Pedestrians that decide to cross the road without turning their heads. Esp those with eyes glued on their phones

Think the Green Cross Code ads need to return. Updated of course with someone being hit by a car whilst got eyes glued to phone
The worst thing is you can see it coming a mile off as they mindlessly bumble down the path towards the road. Although it does give you a chance to slow down, stop basically on top of them and then lean on the horn to scare the **** out of them in the hope it'll make them remember not to do it again.

This all depends on where it happens.

If it's them crossing over a minor road at a junction and you are exiting/entering said minor road to/from major road then you are meant to stop and give way to the pedestrians even if they haven't started to cross.

New highway code update.

I have done the sounding of horn if seen someone on their phone whilst driving. Usually if i have to pass them if going in a different lane to them.

Was pedestrians today - within 2-3 miles encountered 3 lots of them - on the other side of the road to me so didn't cause me problems but they were all walking in the road, out of town NSL main road at that, with completely abandon to any responsibility seemingly expecting drivers to look out for them... in all 3 cases near misses with oncoming cars - in one case they were walking 2 abreast on the inside of a corner - I couldn't even flash the driver coming the other way due to the corner - no idea how they managed to react in time and avoid hitting them at probably 50-55MPH.

All I could do was shake my head, dunno what is going on but ever since the pandemic seems to be an increasing number of people acting like absolute lunatics.

EDIT: Unfortunately I don't have a rear facing dashcam - it would have been some rather chilling footage - I really didn't think the driver was going to be able to avoid hitting them.
Not nearly as scary/dangerous, but I live on a straight one-way street with a sixth form on it. The amount of kids who decide to walk straight down the road rather than on the, er, pavement is just ridiculous. Also get groups of 5 or 10 who clearly just can't be bothered to space out and move to the side. Me and my girlfriend have a standard jibe now we like to yell, "TOO COOL FOR THE PAVEMENT?"

We must be old :P

Whether they have right of way or not is irrelevant, not even lifting your head from your phone to check for traffic is still Darwin award retarded.

Had a great one today, police car watched the Jag behind me jump a red then they ended up behind him and missed him staring down at his phone while we were waiting at the next lights and then at the next roundabout they completely ignored the lane markings and did what all the special people do and cut everyone up to make it off the roundabout. Full on WTF moment when they pulled that last bit.

People pulling out into roundabouts with complete disregard - common occurrences

People just stop in the middle of the road and blocking the road - especially during morning drop off time

When I drive to my parents, a lot of teens use the service road which I go on to their home to do wheelies on their bikes. They have no consideration or ability to respond to the car horn.

They are acting dangerously. If one hits my car, I will get done for dangerous driving

Seen the same thing about 9 years ago, was driving out of town to pick the wife up as she was in a Panto at night, guy in my side of the road dressed in black walking with his back to the traffic, in an unlit NSL country lane.

A couple of days later I see an appeal for witnesses on Facebook, about 5 minutes after I swerved round him a taxi clouted him at 60 mph & killed him.

I'm always amazed it doesn't happen more often sadly.

That's darwinism though. I have noticed when I take my daughter to brownies (and more recently my son to beavers), that the amount of lazy people that would rather just dump a car on double yellows rather than walk 100m is amazing. Saw a woman last night that was packed a foot onto the kerb and it wasn't exactly a wide path (beverley if anyone has been there, very narrow paths). I couldn't decide if she even knew she'd done it or not.

A resident on the house on corner of my road parks her car on double yellows. Yet she has a garage and parking bay at the back of the property. The area behind hers is a shared parking area for c12 properties. Just laziness as she’s also doesn’t bother to tie bags up rubbish. So foxes don’t need to rip bags to access food.

Can I contact the council to alert them so they can get a guaranteed parking ticket???

That reminds me of this "fun" encounter we had a few years ago:

Only if they find the body ;)

During the early days of 1st lockdown, my store only allowed 45 customers in. We took turns manning the car park with a colleague by the pedestrian entrance - communicated via walkie talkie. One man hovered with engine idling for twenty minutes waiting for the driver parked in the nearest normal parking bay by the lifts to leave.

The car park had only a max of 40 cars in at a time - based on half of customers driving to shop and rest were colleagues’.

The guy was in mid 40s, goes jogging a lot. Yet refuses to walk an extra 20 yards.

Sounds like the Fat Fighters International meetings hosted at the community centre on my road. People attending are too lazy to walk a few m down the road (there's plenty of parking), so they double park, blocking the pavement, park right on the corner blocking visibility, and across peoples' drives. Instead of looking for a quick fix meeting, maybe the stupid fat **** should try tackling the root cause of the problem?

I feel sorry for people that live near schools as I've heard all sorts of problems including randomers using their drives.
We live one road back from the school and now they've covered the whole school road in double yellows we get all the special parkers instead.

The best one I had a couple of weeks ago, we're in a row of houses with tarmac parking spaces all the way across 2 per house.
Someone had pulled up across both of the empty spaces for our house so I couldn't pull in.

Drove up indicating I needed to get in, sat behind them indicating, flashed them still indicating.
Absolutely no response what so ever, so in the end drove in across our neighbours spaces parked next to the oblivous driver and started waving at him. Guy took off so quick it was like I'd put the window down and threatened to stab him

If both of our spaces are free I'd rather they just pulled into one rather than sit across them blocking us in or out of both.

Yes, but that requires effort. It's like the people who just stop dead from 30mph in the middle of the road and consider that "parked", because getting closer than 3ft away requires actually slowing down and aiming slightly...

I do sometimes wish I drove a really beaten up old banger so I could "help" position their cars better without having to care about damaging mine.
