Your bad driving encounters

People who can't read lane markings.....
Had two today while walking the dog.
First a bloke on a small electric bike went straight through a red light of a pelican crossing and secondly a guy in a Mercedes convertible revving the engine at the lights, then proceeded to gun it off the lights around to the right, almost made the back end slide while swapping lanes to go down to the left ( very common practice on this junction).

Saw some Harley riders yesterday. First two were probably a couple and were wearing a helmet what can be resembled to a hard shell cap. The second one was on A556 doing 70+ in a 50, wearing a Harley T-shirt and no riding gear from what I could see quickly other than a helmet. Could see the Tattoed arms.

Yes. I had a bike for a while. You could always tell the ones that would end up in hospital.

Had one today, weaving in and out down a 50mph, flowing, dual carriageway. Cotton t-shirt and cargo shorts....
I like to call them meat crayons

As said above though, jeans can be as good as leathers/textiles. Till I started riding I didn’t realise you can even get hoodies so I don’t judge just on the appearance except in those obvious cases such as shorts or T-shirts.

Mentioned it before but my brother had an off on his bike shortly after buying proper gear including a jacket with back armour and it made all the difference between walking away with little more than some bruises and serious injury possibly fatal - he gave up riding after that though was a bit of a scare.

(Driver looked right at him and still pulled out so he had to put the bike down to avoid a collision and slid into a curb).

I've always thought of bikers in jeans as aquafresh... Blue stripe... Red stripe... White stripe...

An old friend was looking after someone else's bike and to keep it fresh decided to take it round the block, wearing normal jeans. The bike slid out from beneath him at a roundabout at 15mph and his knee took the brunt of it. He said the worst part was getting a telling off from the nurse as she spent the next few hours picking the cotton fibres out of his knee.

This stupid bint made me lose half my shopping all over the boot as I had to brake sharply.... white bimmer, check, private plate, check, not knowing how to use the steering wheel, also check.

To be fair she was using her indicator though, so that makes it ok.

I'm so glad I've got a dash cam, not actually had a fender bender yet, but it will be a god send in situations like this if contact is made.

Had to laugh on the way home, came up behind a car on L plates being driven very cautiously and then another car comes up behind me and starts tailgating me only for a large van to start tailgating them - oh they didn't like that! then the two of them were too busy aggroing each other to notice the learner had turned off and I'd put my foot down. The last I saw of them the car was purposefully going slow and swerving to block the van from passing it.

Don't know if its the weather but theres always some drama on the road that leads to the turn off thats my street, cars regularly speed at 40+ up and down (its a long straight road) and because I have to turn left onto my street its just sensible to stick to the speed limit (30, its a suburban road) past the roundabout and turn off a short while ahead but theres always some moron who's impatiently tailgating but I always do it by the book stick to the limit indicate in good time turn off job done. Only this time this dick in a white van lets off one on the horn 'cos apparently driving at the speed limit and signalling is some kind of provocation or bad driving or something. Anyway there proceded to a be a back and forth of horns for a while this being at nearly 11pm. Yeah its dumb but christ I get sick of morons like this I can see how road rage incidents happen the red mist descends and theres a strong temptation to turn around and go after the bugger.

when i passed my driving test back in the day i had 2 minor faults and one of those was driving too slow for the conditions, and too be clear i wasnt doing 30 on a national speedlimit it would have been around 50. it was a while back so i may be wrong but 2 minors (or was it 3?) in the same category would have been a fail
So whilst you may be correct from a gonna be prosecuted kind of way, driving below the speed limit when there is no reason to is definitely considered poor or inconsiderate driving (otherwise why give a minor fault for it)
20 minor faults or it used to be, would be instructors the fail rate was just 3. In either case 1 major was a definite fail

Always found the minor fails on my test a bit meh albeit one of them could easily have been put down as a major. One of them I slowed down quite a bit on approach to the line at a roundabout due to the view to the right being obscured by smoke kicked up by roadworks and was marked down for not keeping up with traffic or whatever - even today I'd have done the same thing at the same pace. The other I entered the other side of the carriageway without checking to avoid a suicidal cyclist who came flying out of a narrow alleyway between two buildings and straight onto the road nearly going into the side of me - a bit of an annoying one as entirely not my fault but still one that would go against me - these days I'd probably have enough experience to just about be able to check before manoeuvring but still a choice of potentially hitting another car or almost certainly a seriously injured cyclist.

Was tempted to write "if you parked further away maybe you wouldn't be such a chunker", but thought that was a bit harsh.

Need votes please:

a) just live stream the reaction
b) go and block them in

Ugh, so fed up of drivers parking on pavements, especially the a*******s that don't leave space for pedestrians to walk by without having to walk in the road. It's a pity that the Police and Councils have no interest in doing anything about it. While it's currently only an offence to park on pavements in a few cities it is still an offence to drive on the pavement (Highway Act 1835), so by parking on the pavement they are actually breaking the law as it's unlikely they lifted the vehicle there.

Agreed. The pavement is actually really wide there, and the road is quite narrow, so parking with 2 wheels on the kerb is fine usually, but this muppet has literally parked almost the whole car there!

Funny, I was just thinking that. Got several bags of dog poop in the bin which have been ripening nicely in the heat over the last few days!

I am very, very tempted to move my and my partners cars bumper to bumper front and rear, but based on the parking, I suspect they'd just barge their way out and not care about damaging them :(
