Don't see why not, i use one on my 6 stage, make sure you have a gauge though to check the water pressure.

finished scaping my new Fulval Roma 90l yesterday.

added a couple of sword tails to help the cycle settle down but have already moved my canister filter from my old tank over so shouldn't take long. Need to get the water paramaters 100% before I start moving my shrimp over from my old 5 gallon

I think it will look really nice once the plants start growing out!

Looking forward to starting up again soon. I plan to have a small tank on my new desk, and possibly a larger one downstairs, though not as big as before.

If conditions are suitable, in due course I'd like to add a few blue neon river gobies :

How much does a basic setup cost?

That depends what you class as basic...

You can have fresh water, tropical or marine... Then you could get a tiny little tank for two fish, is that what you see as basic? Or a 3ft as an example? You can buy some fish for £1 each and a used tank for say £50 but it depends what your goal of a basic setup is to be able to answer better...

How much does a basic setup cost?

Depends on how much you want to scour 2nd hand classifieds.

For brand new your looking at a minimum of £200 for a fair size tropical tank unless you really skimp big time.

If your willing to do 2nd hand, you could for it for £50.

Also depends on what you call basic also, you need to price for the following:

Tank
Filter
Water conditioner
Siphon Hose
Lights
Food
Fish

Optional:
Stand
Decorations (gravel/sand, ornaments, fake/real plants)

I'm restarting in a couple / few weeks, & will probably begin by adding a small-ish tank to sit on my thankfully rather large desk (stock image coming soon :D). Something like a 10 - 20 gallon with florabase substrate / plants and so on will probably set me back around £150.

So Juwel tanks are a good quality make? :)

By decorations, i meant gravel/sand, ornaments, fake/real plants :p
Would 4 guppies and 4 neon tetras be too much for a 32ltr tank?

Well, I suppose that's one way of describing things. :p

Both require mature set ups, especially neons. Also, if I'm not mistaken, both types of fish require different conditions to thrive (pH / water acidity / alkalinity), rather than just to survive. Finally, for a 32 litre tank which is what..... about 7.5 gallons (or slightly more), would be fine for either fish if conditions are suitable (water quality), but I would recommend having one or the other, and in slightly greater numbers, e.g. 9 guppies as opposed to 4. These are all shoaling fish.

Below is some useful about these critters. Read and read well. :)

It would be ideal if you up the size of the tank slightly. This would give you a greater degree of freedom.

It's harder to control the water quality with small tanks as well.

True. 'Levels' can fluctuate quickly.

That is a bit of a myth in my opinion, in reality if you stock sensibly and keep up you water changes small tanks are fine.

If your putting it on your desk, I suggest you get something that looks nice and doesnt have a nasty plastic hood like a Fluval Edge.

Stocking wise as others have said, I would get one type of fish and just be sensible with the numbers/size.
