Your current Fish tank Setups!

I have a red and blue LED array that i made(can't remmeber the wattage, but deffinately poweful enough). The white is on for about 12 hours, and the blue is on allday untill i go to bed.

Are these the correct spectrum for reef aquaria? as some LEDS are known to encourage algae.

I assume you are using RO water for you changes & top ups?

If I was you I would do weekly 50% water changes & get the external up & running and pack it with Seagel, Poly Filter & Purigen.

Ok, thanks very much for the advice. I'l check if i can what spectrum i used, but i researched the topic soo much before building them i'd be rather annoyed/surprised if i've bought incorrect LEDs. Yes i'm using RO water for weekly changes. I'l have a look at getting some phosphate removers in the next week and getting the canister up and running again, thanks very much for the advice..

How bit is the tank and how many kg of live rock do you have (by the picture it doesn't look you have enough), do you have a skimmer with this setup? How long have you had it for.

had the tank for around 3 days, its an aqua one horizon 60 (60l tank) using an external ehiem filter.

Rock is around 5kg (which is pushing minimum amount for the ltr'age) and was from my orca 450 which was plenty enough. (transfer half water and all the rock from my orca so the cycle was pretty much instant)

I will be building up the right hand side probably, or make a little pyramid shape, when i get some moneys!

I don't think you can have any more fishes in a tank this size.

So you have transferred everything from a bigger tank to a smaller tank in 1 day in which case it should be ok but I would use all water from previous tank?

Maybe it was too much for your cleaner shrimp to take.

Check my last video of my marine nano cube I sadly closed down few months ago.

5kg of live rock for 60litres is about what is recommended.

and one couple months before

cleaner died a week or so ago, some bad worm that had grown ate him :/ was gutted.

from a smaller tank (54l but had back compartments) into the new tank, (slightly bigger being 60l without the compartments), more so for floor space and asthetics) only half the water due to location really (ended up carrying the orca 450 up here to transfer the fish easier instead of bagging them and that was a short 10 min drive)

Had let the tank "cycle" for a day and params were spot on so the fish and corals went in :)

I loved your tank, how come you closed it down :( ?
Have asked on the forum i go on (thesaltybox) about a pistol goby pair, but im not sure tbh, as i know 3 fish are pushing the limits :)

I was at swallows looking for a new fish and corals today, not sure what to get really. I have space for one more small fish, possibly a blenny, sand sifting goby of sorts or another banghi and black spiney urchin. I don't know what to get, I really want a scopas (brown) tang which is just a stunning fish but I already have a yellow tang and foxface so introducing a brown tang is just not fair.

Any suggestions on mildly mannered small fish?

I definitely think with 2 clowns and 1 fire fish you are fully stocked for 60 litres, I had 24 gallons and had 2 clowns and 1 fire fish only.

You should check and join www.ultimatereef.net, very nice people there, I got very good advices and learned a lot from there. Also made deals with local people, cheep or free frags :)

I loved my tank and I think it was a massive success as everything grew nicely and looked happy, and nothing ever died but due to some RL problems I had to close it down. I only had it for about 11 months.
I really miss it now when I check videos of the tank I took :( :( :( I almost want to cry :( :( :(

Several new addions to my Fluval Edge

Nice fantails.

The edge is 23 litres right? Fantails need 100+ liters per fish, and 2-3 feet of swimming area minimum. You might want to re-think that stock, or perhaps buy 150ish litre tank to replace it with to keep them comfy!

An edge tank is probably best left to small tropical inhabitants, or perhaps a shirmp tank :)

I have a couple of tanks + pond so I usually chop n change. Also the misses has a big fish tank and I might move them into there eventually.

my tank spiraled recently so im "starting fresh" with what i can.

one of my clowns wasn't well and eventually died, (suddenly went off his food, lost colour quickly and ignored his mate, then started floating sideways etc), taking out a lot of my coral while i was away for 2 days.

so, i have 10kg of brand new live rock replacing my old stuff, and a strong black clown and a purple firefish. Done some big water changes to get everything back in motion, and will be getting/ordering new corals and frags soon. Then replacing my misbar (with a black clown as i preffer them tbh) later on.

Marvin (firefish) is LOVING the new rock, darting in an out of little holes and coco (my clown) is starting to come back to normal after fooey died.

How long/short a time should i get a mate for her/him? I didn't want to add another while she (i say she cus she gre bigger than fooey) was searching frantically for the other, but now shes settled im thinking a smaller clown addition would be ok?

:) busy times, its amazing how one tiny thing can knock out everything so quickly when you let slip for a day or two.

thought i should add to the thread, been a while since it was last used but ive finally got around to getting myself a setup, well my dads upgraded his to a 4ft tank so hes give me his old 2ft and all his old stuff as ive been after a tank for a while but funds have been used elsewhere.

anyway ive only had it a week or so but using his well worn in filters for the bacteria and also brought 15l of his old tank water to get it bedded in quicker.

just got my fish today so i thought i should add some pics (sorry for the pics i only had my phone to hand, i plan on getting some better soon and ill update.... maybe after a few more fish)

The whole tank

a simple setup for now but i will add more soon but dont want it to get overcrowded

couple im after is a few red shrimps and a 5/6 neon tetras, id also like an angel fish but i think it would get too big and territorial for the tank
