Your current Fish tank Setups!

Your tank is WAAAAYYY too small for goldfish :)

Oh, ignore online calculators, and things like that. Read up on caresheets for each particular fish you want to keep. (From many different sources)

It is standard practise to do this before buying any fish.

Euro, looks like they are settling in well. Pretty fish :)

I added some bits from a moss ball into my work tank today. My Geophagus female in my main tank didnt like it, as it kept rolling into the area she was shifting the sand from. She took it to bits, so I have removed all the bits, and tried to re-shape them into new balls. Some of the larger bits look like they might do ok
The young shrimp are loving them, and grazing over them at the moment. Time will tell if they re-form into ball shapes :)

Quick updated pic of my nano tank.

Now with 30ish baby shrimp. I lost all the elderly adults, and now have a load of shrimplets. Might have to give some away at this rate!

Several new addions to my Fluval Edge

Nice fantails.

The edge is 23 litres right? Fantails need 100+ liters per fish, and 2-3 feet of swimming area minimum. You might want to re-think that stock, or perhaps buy 150ish litre tank to replace it with to keep them comfy!

An edge tank is probably best left to small tropical inhabitants, or perhaps a shirmp tank :)

Can i ask what's the best method of anchoring down plants without the pots that are supplied?

Thick substrate.
Suckers on the floor under substrate tied to plant via thin fishing line
Small strip metal weights
Secure plants to other items (bogwood/decor/etc)

Also make sure you remove the spongy bit, as it contains a load of nutrients/additives that can cause an algea bloom in the tank!

If it's certain there are no salt or chemical deposits in the slate from a garden centre I would probably boil for a few hours before I had relative peace of mind.

I have been using slate from garden centres for years, even with picky fish, never had any problems :)

As with any rocks, wash and scrub them. I tend to pour boiling water over them or bathe them in it when new, mainly to kill bugs, and also to help clean off any dust/etc.

Always stood me in good stead

How do you guys clean sand? Cleaned my tank last night and ive still got a fair bit of debris in my gravel, contemplating black sand....

Never have to clean my sand. I have good water flow across the floor of the tank, and also have two Geophagus in there to keep it moving over all the time.

Although, I am fairly certain that just the water flow is sufficient :)
