Anyone here keep otos? I've only had them a few days and love them to bits, but I wanted to know if they are as difficult to look after as I've read.

When I used to keep otis (also in a Lido 120) I found they could sometimes be a little aggressive and attempt to attach themselves to other fish.

Added 12 Cardinal Tetra, 6 Corydoras Sterbai and 6 Dalmation Mollies on Friday. All very active so far. Tank is looking much better now.

Also did a bit of gardening and sorted it out as the plants had gone mad.

I added 2 Pim Pictus Catfish and 1 Ruby Shark on Friday. I'm about to have a bit of a sort-out and clean up then I'll try and get some pics :)

Quick pic of how mine looks currently. Unfortunately I can never get a decent picture. I'd like some 'whiter' lighting too if that's possible?[/IMG]

Have a look for 'Triton' tubes.

Also, make a cover for the tube (i used a heavy tube cut in half and lined with foil way back when I used to keep fish). That way all the light is directed into the tank. Im sure something more advanced exists now.

Cheers for the warning. So far mine seem pretty placid, but that might be because they spend every waking hour eating and ********.

Can anybody advise whats best to anchor down plants and ornaments ? mine keep floating

I've used lead strips in the past. Your lfs should have some.

That's pretty good value. The cost of new fish tanks has gone through the roof in the last 12 months. My 180L Fluval that cost me £290 (on offer) retail a couple of years ago is now £500+ even from the cheap internet places.

Trigon 350s are £650 with discount at my local fish specialist.

Got it for £250, with lights, pump, heater, and sundries (contents unknown!)!! Going to collect later this week. Seriously chuffed. Even better, I've got a week of holiday next week, so can get it all set up and establishing ASAP. :)

Really looking forwards to it now, collecting on Saturday. I'll see what it comes with and then start drawing up a shopping list to get it established!

As a sidenote, I've seen a couple of fantastic submarines and a crashed plane in this thread - just from the usual aquatic places?

How do you get rid of trumpet snails?
I keep having them, I do not over feed. Have not introduced anything for a while into the tank. Regular water changes etc (tropical tank), Put cucumber in at times to get all the snails together, but gee, they keep coming back. I have 2 clown roaches in there, so that does help.

Just the little buggers are persistent

I'm liking this.

I have a litle corner at the end of the hallway which looks a little dim. It would be perfect for something like this.

What would the overall cost for setting something up like this? I particularly like small shoals of Tetra, Is it big enough?
