Your experience with OLED burn-in

No I don't live in a pub.
Just normal viewing habits really, I like to know whats going on in the world.
If I had known maximum 10 minutes a day allowed to watch the news I wouldn't have bought an OLED.
It isn't just banner burn though, the whole of the screen is burnt.
As I said, green egg yolks anybody?

Burn in is real I have an OLED55B6V that is less than three years old. I have put up with sky news banner burn in for two years. But now all of the panel is showing the same symptoms. My complaints to LG have fallen on deaf ears.
If you want to watch TV cooks baking with green egg yolks get an OLED!

Egg yolks look fine to me. Sounds like you might need to adjust some settings unless I'm missing what you mean ?

That's why I wouldn't game on my c9. Now if I earned £2000 a week I probably wouldn't care keep it a year and throw it out of the window and just buy another.

For gaming I'd stick with LCD. Even if oled has true blacks, better motion, better colours

Nothing to do with the settings, the entire panel is showing burning.
I can't see any way of attaching an image on here or I could show you the state of the screen.
All reds, pinks and yellows just show as green.
The most annoying thing is LG uK support have totally blanked my requests for any kind of service or help.
I posted the state of my screen on the AVS forum and LG USA offered to help me but nothing from the UK lot.

Been gaming on OLED’s for years and not had any issues.

It’s unusual the entire screen has screen burn tbh if everything is green it sounds like a different fault but no idea really. You would need to chase the retailer really as they are responsible. Have you tried contacting trading standards. If you paid on C/C you might have some chance claiming via them.

Yeah but it's your money now if you were to give me.£2000 and if my screen gets screenburn I'll just buy another one with that money you gave me. But since it's my TV and too risky, then no I won't game on it.

My pc isn't good enough for 4k anyway, and it's in a different room. Don't have any latest gen consoles, just PS3 and 360 and I plug them into my LCD pc monitor.

Screen burn is not covered in the warranty.
The set is 3 years old in April.
So basically any kind of free repair would depend on the good will of LG UK.
My experience of the aforementioned indicates this ain't going to happen.
I just posted on here to alert people to the facts.

Any warranty with LG is in addition to your statutory rights which last 5 years and is with the retailer not LG. The Tv needs to be fit for purpose if a big burnt in logo distracts from its use then you might have a case and it all depends how far you want to go. Just remember any recourse you have is not with LG it’s with the retailer you purchased from.

Since there are screen burn disclaimers in the book I doubt get very far.

I have a pioneer plasma and it does get uneven border wear as mostly watch movies so top and bottom borders appear slightly different to middle area

Thanks Moogleys, my son is a solicitor and his wife is a trading standards officer.
I will ask them what my chances are.
I don't expect any action from LG but can't help thinking it isn't Currys fault!

Tbh I would struggle to game on an LCD screen now they all look a bit weird in comparison. I only console game don’t do the pc gaming thing anymore. I have never had an issue with ours and the wife watches all sorts and the kids play games watch Netflix and generally do whatever. Sometimes I think people are made to worry to much by a few claims. If I did have issues I would take it up with the retailer.

Why not try yourself moogly ring up who you bought it from say your wife leaves it on BBC news hours at a time everyday, and you game on it with static his and now has BBC and game burn in. Can you have a brand new TV please.

Let me know of the outcome.

I am not worrying over nothing.
My screen is shot.
My advice is don't buy OLED if you have any kind of regular viewing habits which include a banner or logo.
I can only speak from my own experience as can you.

Sounds like you have the two best people for the problem there. Getting them to right a letter to the retailer stating the Tv is not fit for purpose hopefully you will get somewhere.

Good luck.

I would expect a repair and tbh I would not have many issues from the retailer I purchased from. I’m not saying burn in is not a thing on oled but I have never had any issues with it and I use my tv’s for everything. I know a fair few people who have oled’s and I dont know of anyone who has had an issue on various models. I’m happy gaming on mine and it was a big deciding factor in upgrading from my B6 more mainly for the new consoles when they arrive and it was a good deal too.

That's great but until you come back with a letter proving that then I'm not going to risk my TV on your basis you think you'll get a replacement.

Not when it mentions screenburn in the manual, and on the TV menu itself. And when people have shown it happens.

Luckily I don't watch broadcast TV.

I mean there are going to be people with issues but I’m sure there are thousands that have no issue too. Saying no one should buy one is a bit ott but can understand your frustrations.

Just because I would get it sorted I’m not saying you would. You should do what you think is best but I’m a little confused why you purchased an oled if all you are going to do is worry about using it and not use it to it’s full potential. Why not just buy an lcd and not have the worry...

Becaus I use it for movies only as I did the plasma.

Consoles suck, and my gaming pc is upstairs plus gaming on sofa sucks, got to use keyboard and mouse, upright chair position. Use 27 inch 1440 144hz monitor
