your favorite cult movie..

Warriors
Gremlins
Tremors
Goonies
Starship Troopers
How High
Shaun of the Dead
Little Shop of Horrors
Running Man
Event Horizon
Bad Taste

Some of the above probably aren't cult I'm guessing but not sure how you define cult exactly.

I've got a dozen or so favourite cult films, so hard to choose really. Some of them have been chosen on here by others, I'm in a habit of picking one that's not been mentioned here so far & that would be the original Robocop.

The Warriors for me.

Not sure if they would fit the definition of 'cult', but I'd nominate Leon, Roadhouse and Point Break too.

Escape from New York - loved it as a kid, and still enjoy it as an adult.
In fact all carpenter's movies pre 1990

Random factoid - The presidential escape pod from Escape from New York, was later used as a spacecraft in Mork and Mindy.

My giddy aunt, peel me a grape, on what planet are these mainstream and well known sci-fi blockbusters in any way cult films ?

Blade Runner was a box office flop. It's only really gained it's fame through the cult following and pressure that lead to the director and final cuts. In it's current form it's very much and cult film, it was practically brought back from the dead by fans after an old work print was screened by accident and they went crazy over it.

My vote though would go to Donnie Darko, or maybe Primer.

Favourite Cult move is them live in concert in the Los Angeles's Olympic Auditorium.
Play a lot of the old classics along with a few newer songs.

I think, although I might change my mind, my favourite is The Thing. Ridiculous in parts but it's fantastic. I was hooked from that opening segment with the dawg.

For anyone else who likes cult sci-fi movies, I recommend watching Outland. Another classic, imo.
My favorite era for cult scifi.

Saturn 3 (1980)
Demon Seed (1977)
Logan's Run (1976)
Silent Running (1972)
Mad Max 2 (1981)
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)
The Omega Man (1971)

Some good choices already said but I'd go with The Crow. Maybe for nostalgia reasons more than it being a quality film but do enjoy a re-watch now and then.

The cook, the thief, his wife & her lover.
Harold & Maude.
The taking of Pelham 123. The 1974 original & not the god awful remake.
Assault on precinct 13. The 1976 original & not the utterly garbage remake.
Bedazzled. The 1967 original with Peter Cooke & Dudley Moore.
Millers Crossing.
Dark Star. Idiotic very low budget sci fi movie by non other than John Carpenter.

Not sure what films I like would be classed as Cult, but a couple of decent watches I can think of are ExistenZ and Thirteenth Floor.
