Your favorite PC GAME GENRE?

I used to be a Rpg nut but now im playing more Fps like Et and Bf2142, were as i havent even gotten past chapter 2 of NWN 2 yet, although saying that ive just re subscribed to DDO since the new mod was released but will proberly get bored of that before my 3 monthh sub is up.

I'd say my favourite genre is fps, mostly due to halflife and bf2 but I do enjoy rts and rpgs, oblivion being a great example or kotor. But I absolutely love Civ, nothing better than nuking ** opponent when they still havent discovered gunpowder.

*my lord, what is that burning star in the sky?*
*well it seems to be a comet, oh no, it's falling metal cylinder!*

....ok, i'll just pack up and leave now :p

For the most part my fav has to be FPS mainly CSS and 2142 at the mo, though i do like the odd RPG too.

MMO's for me, currently playing WoW, LOTRO and Vanguard.

I used to love FPS and RTS games but I'm struggling to get into them at the minute. I've recently purchased Company of Heroes, Stalker and Supreme Commander and hardly touched them, infact Supreme Commander is still in its wrapper :(

My 1st choice would be FPS. Surely that's the point of owning powerful PC's

My 2nd choice would have to be RTS. This is one area consoles can't compare with the PC.

Never been able to play Racing games of any kind, but I have a sickening knack of being pretty good at them.

I have all the NeedForSpeeds however... Underground 2 was amazing and I just set out to get them all, but to be honest, the older ones dont work in XP and Most Wanted and Carbon are absolute drivvel

Apart from that, Im very much devoting my life to UT, Doom & Quake... Got them all, and I especially love Quake 2.... I kind of hope that I can get the Quake 2 maps one day to play on a newer engine... I can play the old Doom WADs on the Doom3 engine, but Quake 2 was the first ever game that I moved from Software to Glide with ... That, and UT Classic.

Just recenly I was given Company Of Heroes ... Nice, fairly adictive but got to a part I just could not finish and it put me off because all the way was very easy and then it felt like the difficulty level had just gone vertical... As if there is a bug, it was that hard, so stuff that... Back to UT for me.

Most recent FPS game that has taken my completely by storm is PainKiller. I was so impressed with that, that I bought Pain Killer Expansion pack only a few hours into playing the first one!!!

1. FPS - GTA, Oblivion etc.

2. Simulation - Flight/Helo sims (civilian & military), car driving, i.e. rally, TDU.

3. Strategy - Sim City, Railroad Tycoon etc.

In joint first place:
1. Turn-based strategy.
1. Plot-driven RPGs (not hack'n'slash).

2. Anything else, so long as it has a good story.

Seems FPS are woefully over-represented here :p But then you'd expect that from a site dealing with cutting-edge hardware. You only need cutting-edge hardware for FPS :p

Supreme Commander :p ???

FPS ***!

brilliant. Especially when they are exceptionally violent :o

Interesting that not many people have chosen sports related titles. I used to be a big fan of golf games and football management but they've really gone off the boil for me of late.

You can only do that on the very easiest difficulty settings :p Try med-difficult AI settings, and it becomes a real task just to keep up... For me, anyhow.
