Inspired by the Steam account value threads...

Go to this link, enter your details for Steam and it'll list all your games. Click on the time column to sort it and you'll see where you've spent all your time gaming on what, by definition surely, are your favourite games of all time. It also lists how much you paid and what the equivalent cost/hour play is.

Please don't list the value of your library, only the top 5 games played.

Here's mine:

Hours played does not correlate to the amount I enjoy a game in most cases. So kind of pointless.

I've sunk hundreds of hours into Elder Scrolls games, mostly on console though. Re bought Skyrim on PC and have sunk 150 hours into that.

Witcher is over 100 but in GoG library and it's my all time fave game.

Wouldnt be a fair representation, according to my steam hours played Rift is number 1 at over 500 hours. But Rift isnt even my favourite MMO game, let alone my favourite Steam game, let alone my favourite game including non-steam games.

Added to that, most of those 500 hours were where I simply had the game running and was afk and just left it on rather than actually playing it. There is a very fundamental difference between what Steam considers hours played and actual hours played, hours that the game is running doesnt mean its been played. I have Civ 5 for example and have played that for way more than 500 hours , yet they arent registered on Steam, I probably put in something like 2,000 hours on DAOC but they dont show of course and god knows how many hours I spent on WoW which dont show (and on top of that, despite the hours spent on Daoc and Wow, even those arent what I consider to be the best MMO I've played (thats Ultima Online). Plus the hundreds upon hundreds of hours in the Battlefield series of games , which arent registered on my steam.

Added even further onto that...some games which I consider masterpieces, such as Portal 2 and Alien Isolation, only have limited life of play before they are completed, so they only have very few hours compared to many, yet are far superior games.

A bit pointless. I've spent most of my time on W3 simply because it's long but my favourite games of all time include the Ryu Ga Gotoku series (probably number 1), MGS 3, Red Dead Redemption, Dirt Rally, Motorstom Pacific Rift and The Last of Us; only one of which is available on PC.

There aren't that many PC games I truly love, certainly not PC exclusives.

On Steam it's easily Ark: Survival Evolved, 570hours in it, Skyrim in at 250 etc.

Most of my favourite games aren't on steam though, MMOs etc.

The main issue with using most hours as most favourite is that some of the best games just aren't that long. My Top 5 games in terms of hours played are Borederlands 2, Fallout New Vegas, Borderlands, Skyrim & Lego Batman 2 (spent a lot of time playing co-op with my kids) but whilst I rate them all highly none are in my top few favourite games.

My top games that I have played in the last 4-5 years are:

F.E.A.R
Mass Effect Triology
Bioshock Infinite
Far Cry 3

You can do this in Steam, too. Just go to Profile, then click Games. Here's my most played games. This is not representative at all of what my favorite games of all-time are, though. Not even remotely close.

Over 1000 hours in GW2 and it's up there but not my favourite.
Over 1500 games played in HotS and that's not close.

Favourite would have to be COD: Ghosts, a masterpiece in online play and story telling.

I was a bit puzzled at first, then I realized it's only relatively recently that I've started to purchase the Stalker games on Steam (COP was bought on GOG).

Regardless of the amount of hours, the games closest to my heart are the three Stalker titles, Deus Ex (1) & then either Quake 1 or F.E.A.R.

Worrying is the ammount of games I bought and never even launched :(.

Makes the average go up to a tenner per hr.

Statistics aren't 100% accurate, some from before they logged hours. And I paid for TF2 for example, as I bought the orange box back then.

On Pc.... depends really. Police Quest 3 when I was 20ish. Halflife 25ish I think, Halflife 2... Assassins Creed 2/3 and Blackflag all completed in tunnel vision mode, which is very rare these days. Darksouls 1/3... all my favourite PC games at their points in time.

The most consisting time sink, and defo my Desert Island game, is the Football Manager series, without a doubt.

So if I had to pick a game it would be Football Manager, but the series not one specific entry.
