Your favourite gpu, ever? Blast from the past..

Probably my HIS 9800pro 256mb.

EPIC - and did Half Life 2 proud!!!

Also loved my X850XT. Exceptional end to a great series of cards from ATi... gave a 6800 Ultra a run for it's money which was crazy considering it was about half the price!!!

Lastly (I'll only choose 3 cards... honest!) was my old GTX260. In fact it was two cards in SLi. Worked smoothly and effortlessly and allowed me to play Crysis @ 1920x1200 butter smooth when others were giving up trying to get 1680x1050 running nicely.

Massively underrated and solid value cards. Still have one - kind of loathe to ever consider getting rid TBH!!!

I had a GTX260 which I bought to replace my 8800GT and felt underwhelmed tbh. Maybe I was expecting too much but I kept it a short while before off loading it to replace with a 560TI, which I loved. The 8800GT is still going strong and got me a massive 5k points in 3DMarakVantage :p

Very strange but I kind of understand...

Had a 8800GTX which I sold to temporarily try an 8800GTS (the better 512mb version). That didn't last long as I wanted better performance for Far Cry 2 and Crysis. So I moved to dual 4850's but suffered crossfire micro stuttering and overall minimum framerate issues which made top games feel slow and clunky. Thinking about it I initially moved to only a single 260 and the difference was epic. The reason was down to the minimum and average framerates really improving despite the max framerates dropping. The average Joe reading a review would think the 4850's had it but the gaming experience on the 260 was far superior! Added a second and it gave me a chunk of performance that wasn't beaten for a couple of generations! :)

I think it shows the variations of peoples systems and how differently it can effect performance.

8800gt, Had it since it came out until today where it's finally borked. used the initiative to buy a new pc but Very pleased with it's lifespan. Didn't really want to spend the money now as I'm out of work but I need a PC as it's my only source of entertainment.

The first card I bought for myself was an ATi Rage Fury Pro, in a 500mhz P3 and you never forget your first!

Probably the best value/power card I ever bought (and still have somewhere) is a GTX 275, corker of a card for the money, upgraded from a GTS8800 for a bit of extra umph in Crysis.

Has to be said though, I haven't really noticed much difference upgrading since the 8800, I know the performance has improved but there but there hasn't been any real wow in games since I went from an x800 to the 8800, and I'm running a GTX690 now, the only place I see a difference is shifting a few million polygons in 3D studio.

Nvidia MX440, its a nothing card but I got very good at an FPS on it
I also liked my GTX 280 a lot, was £229 on OCUK

-3dfx Voodoo Graphics - simply because it was my first 3D card. Amazing to think it only has 4MB VRAM.
-GTX280 - very powerful with no weaknesses (good core speed, memory bandwidth, VRAM), this lasted me about 2.5 years which is the longest I've had a card for. I actually plugged it in again when my GTX470 was at RMA and it performed great.

The one that got away was the 8800GTX, I'd like to have had one of those but I'd gone with a 8800GTS-320.
