Your favourite movie scenes

2001 Space Odysee : The beginning scenes where it shows the 'dawn of man', the monolith and the discovery of weapons. No other films come close to touchng that for me. All the more powerful because it's accompanied by one of the greatest pieces of music ever. Anyone happen to know what song is?

what i dont get is why he went the back way when everyone knew him?

It has been a while since I've watched it but it is a way to show he is a made man more or less I think, he is connected and it shows the value of respect because he acknowledges everyone on the way in from the kitchen porters up and also tips a few if I remember right. :)

My favourite scenes are:

Robocop - The showdown at the drugs factory "GUNS, GUNS, GUNS!!! Tiger are playing....TONIGHT!!...Never miss a game....."

Terminator - The entire opening sequence and credits, with that pounding industrial music by Brad Fiedel.

Mean Machine (Burt Reynolds version) - When Crewe throws the ball at Bogdanski's knackers (twice) and the players literally cannot stop laughing.

Dune - The training fight using forceshields. This was one of the earliest uses of CGI.

Clear And Present Danger - The rocket ambush in the blocked alley.

2010 - The end bit. Brings 2001 full circle.

The Taking of Pelham 123 - "Now, then, ladies and gentlemen, do you see this gun? It fires 750 rounds of 9-millimeter ammunition per minute. In other words, if all of you simultaneously were to rush me, not a single one of you would get any closer than you are right now. I do hope I've made myself understood."

Dead Man's Shoes - The meeting on the street. A bit like the diner scene in "HEAT" only more menacing. "You're ****ing there, mate!"

Excalibur - The beginning of the film, focussing on Uther Pendragon.

The Omen - When David Warner is decapitated by the pane of glass.

Scum - "Where's ya tool, ya black *******?!!"

Ummm.

Aliens- "There they go over there! Get them!"

Return of the Jedi- "You want this, dont you..........?"

Henry V - The battle, Brian Blessed fighting.

Rocky IV- "Hearts on fire....................."

Some of mine:

The Way of The Dragon - Fight scene between Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris
American Werewolf in London - The transformation scene
Independence Day - The moment the spaceships fired their weapons and blew up the cities
Deathproof - Stuntman Mike getting beaten up by the 3 girls (rest of movie was dull)
Kiss of the Dragon - Fight scene between Jet Li and the twins at the end

Here's some of my more memorable ones:

-Ripley 'kitting up' while going down the lift towards the end of Aliens. The one time a hero actually comes prepared; instead of taking a pistol with 6 bullets, she's strapping an automatic rifle / grenade launcher onto a flamethrower. Nice work, girl.
-Willem Dafoe getting left behind in Platoon, the classic shot up of him collapsing after rushing the chopper. Chokes me up every time.
-Minigun scene in Predator. Awesome.
-Take your pick from Dr Strangelove. The Coke machine scene maybe as it's not as cliched as the War Room stuff.
-Terminator scene in the car after escaping from Arnie, where Kyle is telling Sarah about the terminator.
That Terminator is out there. It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead!
Fantastic emotion in that scene. Both the way it's delivered by Kyle and Sarah's final realisation about what she is up against.
-Bit of a cliche, but the 'poster' scene in Shawshank.
-The ending of Se7en is pretty cool - you kinda know what's coming, but you just have to keep watching.
-Rocky in training, culminating in the run up the steps. Gets the adrenaline flowing and almost makes me wanna get up off my lazy arse and do some excersise!

Some have been mentionned here before but never mind:

-Se7en: The part when the killer walks into the police station
-This is Spinal Tap: take your pick but mostly Stonehenge and the pods
-Alien: The "John Hurt" moment
-Pulp Fiction: Samuel L. Jackson's bible passage
-The Usual Suspects: ending

Before Sunrise.

Jesse and Celine in the music booth at the record store. The tension between them two in that scene is unreal, fantastic to watch.

That one in Children of Men where theyare driving through the forest and the burning car rolls down the hill and they are ambushed, that entire single-shot scene is fantastic.

Also, the end of Heat.
