Why has yet another thread descended into 'discussing' peoples choices when the OP asked for people to list what they would buy and at no point invited others to pick holes in their lists?

If someone doesnt like a members choice of product in a list then it can be made clear enough by not listing it in your own

Go on, let us see your list and add anything you think is relevant. Thanks.

Maybe people thought it was relevent? ;)

It's not all like this, its a great community on the whole. It just seems almost a foregone that such threads will get this sort of bs these days :(
Why cant people just accept difference?

Well, im no mind-reader but i took it to mean add any categories you thought relevant. I can never understand how its relevent to urinate on peoples choices simply because you dont agree.

Because it certainly makes the thread more interesting than a simple list of items. That sounds very useful to me. I'll print it off and put it on my pinboard for future reference, so that when I want to know what brand of shoes Person A likes, I can just flick through the wad of paper, and find out that he likes KSwiss.

I know but then, maybe we are seeing the dawn of a new age!
Before i use to go all crazy about it but now i just laugh if off. It works better that way.

Good advice never hurt anyone.

I agree :) but asking why someone has made a choice as opposed to ripping holes in it forcing them to defend that choice is nicer imo.
Anyway, back topic.

I like to cook, a knife is important to me. A good knife will last for years, a Kitchen Devil will last about a year. A good, sharp, quality knife requires no effort and is therefore safe.

I'm going to invest in some good, expensive knives in the future.

Not Mr Gourd's though, they even look expensive :D

Oh cool, so how much these Knives cost? I also hear them talk about knives coming with "diamond titanium technology" or something si,ilar on the cable shopping channel. Any idea?

You are missing something I believe. A proper high quality cooks knife is massively different to the bog-standard crap you can buy in Sainsburies or wherever.

I've no idea, his site's in French and the english version is not up yet. I imagine they're in the 00's of pounds though. You have a consultation with him and he designs the knife to your needs.

If you want a good knife get a Global (*spits*), Sabatier, Wusthof or a Shun (*drools*), never buy a knife with "diamond titanium technology" or something. Just steel! ;)

Saw his knives on some crappy Discovery channel popular science thing, he's obviously small time but they're almost works of art.

I'm not a Global fan, too light and the handles suck.

Our Le Creuset casserole pan thing weighs a ton but it's only teeny. My mum has a full on cauldron which is probably older than me and it's so heavy it's unbelievable.

Damn good pans though. Just be sure you don't drop them.
