Your First Car

Given to me by my grandad when he was too ill to drive. Kept it for a few years until it starting throwing up problems, which in hindsight weren't really very big. Sold it to the nephew of my next door neighbour for it to end up being abused, run into the ground and scrapped within a few months. :( With a little TLC and a careful owner, I'd not be surprised if it was still going.

1996 Citroen Xantia VSX 1.9TD Estate, bought at 18, with 132k miles on it as first car, and sld 18 months later with north of 300k miles on it!! Was a big barge, that just took anything you through at it.

You did 170k in 18 months?! 10k miles a MONTH?! At 18?! I'd love the back story behind that as it sounds fascinating!

My first car was also a Xantia - a 94 1.9TD SX Hatch. I think it had 143k on it when I bought it at 8 years old for £1200. I replaced it 18 months later but it hung around for another year before it was traded in for £200 (lol) for my parents 530d in 2005 just as a way of moving it on.

My first and only.
Left her her in England when I moved to the NL. Eventually gave it away to a fellow E30 forum member.

One day I'll have another E30.... (dreams of a 325 sport) Best car I ever drove (slow but great fun round corners :))

Pic is from before I got it lowered

Mine was a 1995 K11 Nissan Micra that my parents gave me in 2008 (I think) as they were offered a very low amount when they traded in for their next car - it managed to last another couple of years before rust made it completely uneconomical for me to consider getting repaired. It may have been repaired since though as the garage I left it with were planning to weld the problem areas and use it as a runaround I think.

Me neither, but a few months ago I scanned in a lot of my old photos...

Although this was actually taken in 2001 and digital cameras did exist then - you just put a floppy disk in and saved to that. Ahh memories.

Pesky kids with their new fangled devices.

My first car was 1984....

Mini 1000

Brown, with beige vinyl roof and glass sunroof. Lowered steering column, cassette and radio, 32k miles from new and one lady owner. Paid 1K for it, it was and still is the FASTEST car I've EVER been in.....honest.

This was my first. Given to me at 17 by my grandad who was too ill to drive it (had been left standing for about 18 months) and I owned it for 4 1/2 years until it went to the scrappers as it was rusting away.

Really enjoyed owning it, the freedom it gave me etc. Nothing since has felt as special for some reason :o

4 1/2 years of cheap motoring at its best :)

SLK 230 - good fun, decent power, electronics saved me a few times in the early days. Still have it, considering a newer one once I have my new house and job in the summer.

Into a river?!?

Yeah, rolled it down a riverbank when driving down a dark backroad at about 11:30pm. A 90 degree bend, poorly signposted. I didn't know it was a river at the time until water started coming through the vents and I was hanging upside down by my seatbelt. Poor car.

60 raging Italian stallions under the bonnet from a 1.2 8v 4cyl.

I LOVED it. I miss it :(
