Your Game of the year 2022?

Realising now the potential error with the current timing you set.

If a game gets released on say December 23rd, that's just 7 days for it to be played and added to the list as best game of the year.

For instance, cyberpunk came out 10/12/2020. So a game like would not realistically get high up on the poll, and then be disocunted for the following one.

It could really do with being the start December 2021 to end of November 2022, and then in December 2022 voting starts, though appreciate the poll is just for a bit of fun and curiosity.
Yeah its really just about curiosity and maybe to see some titles that I might have missed in the year. The rules are merely the rules I've always used for my own judgement.

I feel there are lots of gems out there outside of mainstream stuff. It's just hard to find outside of the plague of early access *****.
If it wasn't for elden ring it would have been a very barren year for me personally. Rightfully got the recognition it deserved.

But yes I am regretting building a new pc. Don't want to play console game ports from years ago but with added technical issues. How the mighty have fallen.

Elden Ring was fantastic technical issues aside, it felt like a proper adventure and left a pretty big gap for me that nothing could fill for a while.

God of War as also excellent, but I would agree that it's been around for a while so shouldn't really count.

Honestly, looking at the amount of fun I've had, time spent playing, value and just how much content there is, Vampire Survivors has to take it for me. Totally addicting, hence why I'm posting this late into the night :D

Well God of War does count, so ner :p

Added one to Vampire Survivors for you. I really ought to give the game a go, seems to be very popular. The aesthetics have always put me off but maybe I should put that to one side and give it a go

Shredders Revenge. It's hard for a game within the genre to compete with other AAA games as they are shorter and slightly limited by their very nature. But everything was spot on from the visuals, audio and gameplay perspective.

I came at it as a 90's kid from a nostalgic viewpoint who had recently got my 8 year old boy into TMNT so that helped too, but it was blooming fantastic!

I was the same when first jumping in, it's honestly one of those games were a couple of tries in you completely look past the visuals, if anything it kind of comes back full circle and becomes part of the charm and really sells the power creep that you go through.

God of war

Nice casual game to play, easy to learn game mechanics, nice game to just play for an hour or so and enjoy the story and scenery! Runs great as well on older hardware!
Incidentally the only game out this year I played!

As someone who hasn't played any similar games of the genre it's nice.
Main critic I can understand it's quite linear so far ( I'm 4-5 hrs in) and the gameplay is not very advanced but tbh these days I play a game to relax and not to spend my time with difficult situations and learning the UI and gameplay.
Remind me of years ago how I was pleasantly surprised with Devil May cry 4.

High on life, its was fun from start to finish and didn't over stay it's welcome.

I did love gow ragnarok but it was more of an upgrade on 2018 than anything totally new.

Forbidden West I just haven't finished, it's gone way of most games large map for sake of it

Chaosgate Demonhunters was it for me.

I don't think I have finished a game, then immediately started a new campaign on a harder difficulty since the witcher 3, but I played it through twice and enjoyed it both times.

Me too, in fact I enjoyed it so much I actually bit the bullet and bought a PS3 so I could play the earlier ones. I struggled a bit using a controller but Uncharted 2 'Among Thieves' wins outright for the best game out of the lot.
I also finally get to play Red Dead R one and also 'The last of us' before I put the console back on Ebay
I'm replying to my own earlier post, having finally finished playing the three earlier Uncharted games I have to say that they are way better than the two we got for the PC. As far as action and length of games go nothing quite compares with anything currently for PC single player.
The levels of the first three are like we used to get before Multiplayer games included a meagre single player campaign that lasted about 3 or 4 hours of play.
