Lets see:

1. Nvidia 8MB 'sparkle' (thats all I remember!)
2. Nvidia FX 5200 512MB (a stonkin card for the price I paid for it!)
3. ATI 9800 512MB (more a sidestep than an upgrade really, gave it to my younger brother!)
4. ATI X1950XT (lasted a good while!)
5. ATI 4870 512MB
(6.) ATI 4870 1024MB > ordering it tomorrow!

Have to say, the FX5200 was probably my favourite of them all, used it in my first real build in school!

a. to try and reduce 'stuttering' on my 1920x1200 setup
b. selling the 512 to my younger brother (he does seem to feature a lot in my pc life!) to power his 17" for a good long while! With the deal on it seemed like a good idea at the time!

Timeline and cards between Voodoo 3 and the X800Pro are a little hazy and I think there's a missing card in that period, but the list's essentially correct from memory!

Ooh, quoting myself....

I'll add a 4870 (current main gaming rig) and 4550 (HTPC) at the end of that list, plus a card whose name we dare not speak until the 2nd April at which point that'll go into the main gaming rig and the 4870 into the junior gaming rig.

I have owned virtually every graphic card ever made at some point :p although in recent years I've swayed towards NVidia, I never really got on well with ATI's drivers but the final straw for me was when I bought a X2900XT which was advertised as "Silent" yet I found that in gaming it was far from it.

It will probably take NVidia to drop the ball again like with the GF5800FX for me to go back, I've bought a few ATI cards in recent times hoping to be surprised by claimed improvements but I usually end up sending them back a day later.
