Your Must Have Photography Kit

With my dslr I just grab the camera bag everything is in there which includes the camera, lens (whatever one is suited for intended use), sd cards, cap and lens cleaner. Don't have much other gear, waiting for a tripod but I don't think I'll be using it much. Bought a Pana LX7 and all I will have with that is an extra sd card, like to keep things light and simple.

there seems to be a lot of people who are going to using thwe likes of compact systems and high end compacts instead of DSLR but i prefer my DSLR to the likes of my mum's NX1000 or my Friends RX100

DSLR's are great fun to use and you can't beat the 'power' they provide, but for me personally they are too bulky and high maintenance, hence why I bought a high end compact as I can have that with me in my pocket and I know I will use it more. The dslr has its place though and I will use that for planned trips, events etc or when I need the extra 'oomph', did actually ponder on selling it all but I think I'll keep it!

Which camera did you buy in the end?

Picked up an 1100D on Wednesday but it doesn't have a flip out screen and the 600D offers a few more features so i am buying one at the end of may and may give this to my sister who is younger than me but loves photography :)

Depends on what im doing but a camera, 17-55 and a col at bare minimum. If I'm going out out I'll also include a long lens and a tripod.

I'm doing 3 weeks in southern africa in a few weeks and I dread to think how much I'm taking...

D7000
17-55
120-300
1.4 tc
2x tc
3 Batteries
5 memory cards (96GB in total)
CPL
10 stop ND
190 CX and Manfrotto ball head
Rocket blower
Bean bag
Remote release
IPad mini (photo viewing and critique on the fly)
And maybe an 11-16 if I can find one in time...

Just a few things really... Only about 6 kg in all though and it'll all fit in/on my normal daysack!

God your gonna have a lot of wait to carry :)" May The Force be with you"(Keeping in with the newly created star wars theme :)

My bag is around 12 kgs.

What's inside:
camera (or two sometimes)
5 or 6 lenses + hoods
flash + diffusers
cleaning kit
set of 100mm filters + holder
spare batteries
spare memory cards
light meter
flash triggers
cables
remote triggers
rain cover

Often I take my tripod with me too. Sometimes I take a lightstand and umbrella for my flash too, if there is a possibility of taking portraits.

Plus I have a full van of studio lighting equipment, which I don't like taking with me very often ;)

Just today I said to my missus that I need to buy a smaller bag for just a camera and lens and few other things after lugging the whole bag for an hour on a walk in the woods :) I think I need to limit myself when I go for a family walk :D

"Must have"

Well, off today for two week trip to Costa Rica - Finally!

My bag, a lowepro 140, has in it, two cameras (NX300 + NX1000), 30mm pancake, 60mm macro, 18-200mm zoom, and 20-50mm kit lens.

Plus, about 100gb storage on various size cards, few usb sticks for backing up, a few filters, remote shutter release.

On the, a gorillapod and monopod.

All in all, considering how much I am taking, it's taking up little space and not weighing a ton.

Apart from times when I am just out for a day, this will be a typical setup, with the exception of having 2nd camera in bag, or the "pods".

Can't wait to get out of here now :)
