Your oldest piece of hardware?

My laptop (IBM Thinkpad R31) is coming up on 10 years old. Thinking of replacing him with a netbook as all he does is run Xubuntu for web browsing.

In my main PC, I think my case is about 2 or 3 years old.
Got a Samsung 22" 'pebble' when they first came out which was probably 2 or 3 years ago as well.

The R31 is from around 2002...

I guess it would be the inherited Atari 2600. Last tested a couple of years back. BBC micro similarly.

Originally my own, would be the floppy drive - as already suggested by others.

Most outstanding old piece of PC kit would be an original 3DFX Voodoo PCI card.

Up until recently I had an Apple Mac Biege G3 with original keyboard mouse and monitor running OSX10 used for internet and such lite duties.

It was decided it was too big and too beige, so it was put to pasture.

My oldest piece of kit still in use is an IBM T23 laptop from around 2004 I think. My oldest working piece of hardware which is in retired storage (but could be used) is an original MS Intellimouse Explorer v2. I used that through many a quake 2 and quake 3 clan game :D... 1998?

MS Intellimouse Explorer v2.

Still using mine, i can't game on anything else.

Bought it back in 2000 i think, me oldest current piece would be the labtec speaker/bassbox.. never felt the need to upgrade....1998

Probably a 14" dell tft I brought back from the dead a year ago, it spent seven years working in an office before a cable inside worked loose. Colours aren't so great but it's definitely serviceable. Typing on it now.

Otherwise its my trusty old N64. No idea how old that is, can barely remember buying it. Sat on a dedicated 28" crt which might actually be older than either device.

I am using a skt478 2.2GHz Celeron (Northwood) in a music file server, the original Dell that it came out of was manufactured in 2003, but it still runs well...

Recently retired a 400MHz celeron but have a 90MHz something here from work. I always end up taking stuff home for some linux project or other which never gets off the ground. Have about ten of them collecting dust here now!

Still got a Video Genie (Tandy TRS 80 clone) under the stairs here, that must date back to the very early '80s. Still worked last time I dragged it out to play Dave Ahl's BASIC version of Star Trek :D

Regarding day-to-day use, I'm still using a 21" Iiyama VisionMaster Pro 502 CRT monitor with a trinitron tube (?). I brought it new for £525 back in 1994, and it's been the best hardware purchase I've ever made. The picture quality still stands up today. The downside is it's sheer weight and size. It's actually deeper than it is wide:eek:

Still got a Viglen 386 SX 25, from about '92/3 ish. Duno if it works or not, been in the loft for more years than I care to remember!!. Plus loads of 'other' rubbish :)

My Coolermaster Centurion Case. Still going strong apart from a dodgy front headphone socket. Gonna replace with an Antec 900 or 1200 when I get around to it. ;)

I have a fully working Atari 7800 with asteroids pre installed, and several cartridges - centipede, defender, moon buggy (i think its called that), and some racing game with ice and dirt tracks.

God I want to play defender again, that game was the best.

Old hardware, let me think, i got an original GameBoy I got back in 1997, got loads of classics for it, lol super mario land, wave race, lol good times. Got a bunch of floppy disks somewhere (i think :S). I got a Nintendo 64 somewhere too, goldeneye legend game, lol. I got a Nintendo Gamecube i got back in 2002 too, hilarious console, expected lifespan of 3 years, let me say they weren't joking mine sometimes doesnt read games older than 2004, lol (great times back in the day though). My laptop i got in 2006, plays up in various departments but its a love hate relationship really.
