Your one store cupboard 'must have'?

Lemon, although I realise it's not quite a cupboard thing.

Have you tried preserving them? They last for ages if you do that and are a good addition to numerous dishes.

On another lemon note, I went to Turkey recently and ended up buying a bag of lemon salt. It looks like salt crystals, but tastes like lemon! Amazing stuff.

I don't think I could choose one thing, stuff like garlic, lemongrass, ginger etc. all seem as obvious as salt and pepper.

Maybe sweet chilli sauce, use it a lot for stir fry, tempura whatever etc. which are usually made better by it.

I would be lost without tumeric, cumin, chilli powder and corriander.

Absolutely must have 2-3 onions and a couple of cloves of garlic around as well.

Same. I cook pretty much everything with garlic, pepper and a lot of things with salt. I also use rosemary a lot, but then I grow that in the garden, so think I can get away with that :p.

My stomach can't handle Garlic or Onions :(

For me I think it would have to be Knorr Stock Pots too. I use them in everything.

Lemon salt sounds amazing.

My parents used to preserve/pickle lemons and they were indeed good but I can't think they'll be good when making fresh juice or tossing salad leaves.

Either Garlic or my bottle of Dave's insanity sauce. Just a couple of drops of the sauce make anything taste more interesting.

You should be able to make your own by putting lemon wedges in a jar full of sea salt crystals and waiting a few months.

Although I believe the more common method is to add the lemon juice to the saltwater and evaporate it in the normal way.
