Your parcel is due for delivery by DPD . . .

hermes actually give the customer a 2 hour window now.

If I knew that Hermes was the delivery company I wouldn't make the purchase. Sadly that never becomes known till after you have bought. Hermes for Amazon Prime "attempted" to deliver today. No show as usual. I can't remember a time Hermes delivered first time. I would pay a few pounds more in most cases to get a Royal Mail or Parcel Force delivery, as I know it will actually turn up. Hermes are definitely bottom of the barrel. Also practically impossible to contact, so I can't arrange to collect the thing. In fact that would be my first choice for Hermes, send me a collection card I'll get it from you depot, less hassle than waiting for them to deliver it.

Atleast with DPD they will probably deliver in the time window provided.
Yodel delivery, find the house sit outside for a bit, update app to say "sorry we missed you" and leave no note. drive off.

I couldn’t give a flying Ffffffffooooooo what time the information states. Just that I get my delivery when I expect it. DPD are the best and usually very reliable.

DPD tracking map is always slow anyway. I can be watching it and it will state that he is 2 drops before me while he is already walking up my path.

Never had any issues with DPD time slots plus you can see the driver on the map. It's a shame they can't give time slots for the collections.

Parcelforce however, need to work on their deliver info. "Your parcel will arrive between 13:58 and 14:58"
So I took a shower, hop out and there's a knock at the door (about 8.50am) it's Parcelforce :/ so I had to open the door slightly, only wearing a towel and tell him to leave it on the door mat and I'll grab it in a min, he proceeds to put it down, step back and then take a pic to prove delivery. Then I get a text 20 mins later "we couldn't deliver your parcel, we will try again tomorrow"

I was due another one from them the other day and asked to delay it till the next day. Got email and text confirming that was accepted. Delivered it an hour later.

Yodel are due to deliver something to me and can't decide when. eta is Monday, no wait, it's out for delivery so will be today. no, hold on, the driver's name is X so it will be Monday now.

I appreciate there are delays etc but these tracking issues existed long before the virus appeared...

Going back to DPD, I had a delivery for Monday just gone. I was in all day and my front door was open, then I had a text message to say that "I" have deferred the delivery to Tuesday. I rang DPD and told them that I didn't change the delivery day, and the lady I spoke to said that someone did change it to Tuesday. I said once again it wasn't me that changed it but there was nothing DPD could do now.

I then realised that the tracking info is a simple www.dpd.co.uk URL with the tracking number at the end, and anyone with the URL can freely change the day without any kind of security input. Later, I gave the URL to a trustworthy friend and he confirmed that he can also see the option to defer the delivery (to Wednesday and onwards). He didn't defer the day though and thankfully, my Samsung S20 Ultra did arrive on Tuesday in the end. He was able to track it in his DPD app and when it arrived, the driver took a photo of the parcel (and my trainers / tracksuit bottoms) and that photo showed up on his app too.

I can't believe how insecure DPD is!

Iceland home delivery are the same. Just had it this afternoon at the beginning of my 2 hour delivery slot I got a text saying it will arrive within a 30 minute window and the time given was precise minutes e.g. 15:23-15:53.

I understand Iceland drivers have 12 deliveries to make in a typical 2 hour delivery slot.

How would anyone else have your tracking number?

No, I can't believe you aren't explaining it either.

The point, which most people seem to be missing, is why invariably one minute before the hour or the half-hour - your experience may differ - mine doesn't.

We have deliveries by DPD every day, and it's rarely 29 or 59.
It's invariable for you, but that's probably just the lolstockhausen factor. :)

Here they seem completely random, Friday's was 22 minutes past.

That's the thing isn't it! The only person I gave it to was my friend after "I" deferred it from Monday to Tuesday. All I can think of is some glitch on the backend.

My concern remains on how insecure the DPD portal is: That anyone with anyone's tracking URL (or correctly guessing a valid reference number for someone's tracking) can then access the tracking data and modify it without needing any security input such as a postcode.

Bump - Have DPD fallen from grace?

It's honestly a first world problem but for the second time in a week, the DPD delivery driver has obviously been in a big rush, or could not be bothered to deliver my parcel. They drove to the the rough location of my address so their GPS said they were there, took a picture of the building without getting out the van (not even of the front door) and then submitted "sorry we missed you!" on the system and drove off.

DPD used to be spot on but this is quite frustrating. Ironically, Amazon parcels have been delivered just fine on the same day on both occasions.

Anyone else seen this recently?

What really annoy me are the ones who can;t deliver to you early. I was going out one day and was waiting for a parcel and saw the parcel company van parked in my street so walked over and asked if he had a parcel for me to which he confirmed yes. I asked if I could have it but was told I couldnt for another 7 minutes as otherwise it would be marked down that he had delivered outside the delivery window time. So I had to wait 7 minutes to get it.

Why did you have to bump this, I went through the process of reading through the thread, becoming more and more sure stockhausen is either an idiot or a troll with each one of his posts I read, all over again... I already did that once earlier in the year! :p

On the subject of DPD, its curious, I've never had a bad experience with them, I always used to find them to be one of the best, but I've been hearing bad things about them more recently.

As with any courier service I'm sure it depends on your local driver.

Round here MyHermes are incredibly reliable, probably THE most dependable one there is. Likely because our delivery driver is an old lady in a Hyundai Getz. She also delivers the CollectPlus parcels and (thank the lord) Yodel parcels as well... Meaning that I no longer need to have the fear of god put into me whenever I receive a "your parcel is on its way" email from Yodel!

As DPD will deliver to any UK postcode a parcel of up to 35kg for me on a weekday for £4.50 plus VAT I will forgive their time slots being upsetting to stockhausen :) They are usually an exceptionally reliable courier company.

Our parcel delivery is good around here - 10 yrs ago when doing up this place B&Q stopped outside and sat in the van - I was expecting them so went out and asked - He said the same -we are not in the delivery slot and even asked if they could wait a bit after delivery - Can't remember if we offered them a cuppa.
As far as I can remember we have never had a problem with any of the delivery people. I have a feeling it's all down to city delivery that they get a bad name.
I looked at the post date and saw it was an old thread -bet I have already replied but can't be assed to read back through it.
