So with 2009 pretty much wrapped up what are your automotive plans for 2010?

For me I won't be changing my car and a company car seems to be off the cards so I will be throwing some money at the Octavia. Plans are (in no particular order):

Koni FSDs + -25mm springs
Rear ARB
Wheel refurb
New rubbing strip inserts for the bumpers, maybe colour coded but not sure yet

Knowing me I won't do all of the above but I hope to tick atleast a couple off.

No mods for me however when I get back from the hot sandy place I am thinking about taking the the car round europe :)

I've just bought my sister's Starlet SR, and provided it doesn't have to go back to her (long story), all I'll be doing to it is cleaning it up. It's in great nick aside from small dings and scuffs where she lent it to her mother-in-law, so I'll be trying to clean them up. And an iPod compatible stereo and new front speakers, the current ones are knackered.

Possssssibly white wheels. But probably not.

I'm at a bit of a crossroads so I think I'm just going to see how I feel. I start my proper post Uni job just after Christmas so if I wanted to, I could replace the 530i this year, perhaps with an M5. Trouble is whenever I drive it I still love it, its in great condition and... I dunno, I dont think I've finished with it yet. Might spend the cash on some more foreign travel. The big problem is that I absolutely crave the new F10 535i M Sport. Trouble is assuming I get an Approved Used one at 12-18 months old its going to be 2012 before thats possible. Not sure I want to still own my car at 10 years old so I might need some sort of interim car. Hmmm.

Assuming the 530i stays, the following are happening this year:

1) Revised steering wheel retrofit (Jan/Feb probably)
2) Complete BMW Comms Pack Retrofit (March/April I would imagine)
3) Some sort of new exhuast, fancy an Eisenmann but they are almost a grand and I'm not sure its worth it
4) Paint brake calipers

Should do.

Good luck :D I trust you realise its not quite a plug in a screen affair? :p

Ha! Don't start! :p

Yeh, i've done quite a bit of research on it. At first i was like "meh, how hard can it be..." and after a few days of reading on various e46 forums i was :(.

But i am determined - so we shall see!

The thing thats keeping me going is that although all the bits come to over £1000 you can get most of that back at any point by selling it all on again.

Meanwhile, retrofitting a touch screen Audi nav system with SD card slots costs 500 quid all in

After two years of almost buys and not really finding anything i like for the money i hope to be driving a 968cs as a second car sometime in 2010, fingers crossed

After my crazy high speed driving in the snow on Saturday night (I was on a call -out) I'm going to fit a Whiteline Rear anti roll bar and uprated connector bits (I forget the names) to the Forester.

I'd lower it too if I didn't need to go over rough ground.

Pay off the BMW, then convince other half that if we get another car it only counts as half a car if it's only got two seats and therefore I'm not wasting money on a second car...

This is true. I'm just undecided if i want to rip apart pretty much my entire interior. I was looking at (non BMW) nav units with a nav computer built in, but of course, that means hacking apart my heater pipes which, again, i'm not sure i want to be doing.

The BMW nav looks good, but it's apparently pretty basic, and hugely expensive to retrofit.

Deffintely an upgrade on the cards.

Still undecided on whether to do a big upgrade or a smaller one, keep changing my mind

Small upgrade along the lines of:
Z4 Mk1
350z
S2000

Big upgrade something like:
997
Cayman S
M3
Z4 Mk2

The actual navigation functionality of the BMW nav is inferior to anything you'd buy new on the market today including portable navigation devices - the Mk4 system itself dates from 2002 so is almost 8 years old, and it was an evolution not a revolution of the now 10 year old Mk3 system. So it's only natural it's not going to be as good as current generation kit.

However it just looks so... right in the interior :(

Smoke about in the coupe all year, assuming my financial situation improves I've decided I really need to move back out before getting another performance car. So moving out is my main target for 2010, then get something special soon afterwards, probably in 2011 :)

Work will recommence :D hoping to get it fully stripped down and welded this year. Although I doubt I will be able to afford to get it sprayed this year.
