Following on from the debate in the Utd Squad thread, i thought it was time for another EPL dream team thread. Up to you whether you want to pick a balanced side or the best players in each position and what formation you want.

Here's mine:

----------------Reina
Sagna---Ferdinand-Carvalho---Cole
-------------Mascherano
--------Gerrard------Fabregas
--Ronaldo------------------Young
---------------Torres

Only real question marks for me were Mascherano and Carvalho. Could have gone for Essien over Masch but imo he's more of a box to box player and he's hardly played as a dm for Chelsea, and could have gone for countless other cb's over Carvalho but that's just personal preference.

I'm sorry mate but Reina?! I know you are a Liverpool fan and thats going to make you a bit biased but I would pick Petr Cech and I'm a Manchester United fan! He is simply the best goalkeeper in the Prem, probably Casillas and maybe Buffon are the only other keepers in the world who can match him.

Maybe 2 seasons ago but not any more. Cech's been pretty average for a while now, it's not even a debate for me and there's even Utd fans on here who think Reina's the best in the league too. BTW i could easily say the same about Rooney on the left and Berbatov even getting on the bench.

I couldn't care less what everybody else thinks that's their opinion and i have mine. Maybe they're bias as one's a bitter and 2 (+ you) are Manc's.

Yes but unlike some football fans I'm an objective person, I can see the good players past those at Utd, and was happy to put in Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea players who deserve to be in that starting 11. I appreciate that Reina is a fantastic keeper, certainly deserving of being one of the top three keepers in the Prem, but I don't think he is quite good enough to be the starting keeper for a Prem 11, hell he isn't even first choice for Spain.

Anyway I don't want to argue about it, that's my opinion (one shared I must add by the football experts on Sky Sports etc who picked Cech in goal ;) )

Well im not going to change my opinion because you don't agree. Also Casillas plays in Spain so whether Reina in his national side or not makes no difference.

As for Sky Sports experts, if you value their opinion then your opinion counts for even less :p Anyway they selected James not Cech:

just on that , the majority of responses in this thread have mentioned cech ahead of reina. the only one's i've noted that have said reina are either people i seem to remember as being liverpool fans dhill who i'm pretty sure is due to some of his squad selections and manic who i don't know about.
He posted that after 5 other people had selected their sides. Hardly the majority of football fans ;)
For the record i agree with you though and would take reina over cech.

That's all that matters :p

Throw a cross at Reina and he flaps more than a cat flap.

Certainly used to be the case in his first few seasons where he looked to punch all the time but over the last 18 months he's improved no end.

And why not play a 4-3-3 with Ronaldo and Young either side of Torres then you can play Essien cm.

It's also nice to see other people putting Carrick in, it still staggers me that some don't rate him, but he's the lynchpin of our side and incredibly important.

Even if its only other Mancs ;)

edit: i swear you had both Lampard and Gerrard in your side before the edit.

Thought that was his second season. He had a mare against Everton that year, he wasn't great against us last season either, but I watch a lot of matches (3 every Saturday), Match of the Day, all the games on Sunday and any through the week, and that results in seeing a lot of Liverpool games and Reina is absolutely WORLD class, it's just unfortunate for him that Casillas is his competition for Spain.

You're right it was his 2nd season. The game at OT last season was a strange one for him; his distribution was terrible that day (unusual for him) and he was at fault for your 1st goal but he also made at least 4-5 great saves too.

You could have battered us towards the end of the game that day. Rooney and Ronaldo both missed (well Reina saved) a couple of one on ones.

Another point on Reina. Had it not been for his performances we'd be out of the CL by now; made several top draw saves in the 2 Liege games.

I picked Gerrard and Torres who you chose yourself (as well as plenty of other people) and Reina who's also been selected several times and then Mascherao who i said was a question mark (again selected by others too). If i wanted to be bias i would have selected Carra, Alonso and Babel too.

It's a shame there's idiots who can't accept peoples opinions and would rather make stupid comments.

Kinda like it's shame people cant fight their corner without throwing out insults.... real mature well done!
Or when people use the rolls eyes smilie as a response rather than a contructive post.

These threads always get ruined by people who think they're opinion is somehow more valid than others and are more concerned with argueing than posting something sensible.

Putting a "question mark" besides anyone as a get out of jail card doesn't cut it when there are clearly better players that do the same job but offer more to the role i.e. Essien - there's absolutely no question mark whatsoever

Well we've already agreed on how stupid you are. I clearly explained why i picked Mascherano over Essien but i suppose reading is too difficult for you.

Think it's time you went on ignore.
