I hate the free for all. I expect, with Christmas involving my uncle's wife's family, that this year it'll be a free for all. They do not follow the rules
In my house it's always been like this (still live with my parents). We all go downstairs, presents having been put in sacks the night before for my sister and I. My sister and I collect our parent's presents up and bring them into the sitting room, where our sacks are. The sacks are looking tatty after all these years, hah! We then each open one present at a time, beginning with me, as the eldest child. We just open everything one at a time. Normally I'm left sitting there while my sister opens a million and one presents.
When my grandparents and family come over in the evening, we do the same thing, except my grandmother goes first.
