Your Programs!

I see a lot of people are using Winrar, I thought it was a windows only program unless theres something Im missing?

Your not missing anything, a OS X version is available for download same as Windows. Linux too!

Interesting to see how Transmission is almost completely dominant. Also I thought there would be an alternative to Preview. Like Infranview in Windows or something, maybe not.

Shifty I recommend Burn, it's free, open source, easy. So it's worth a trial. I don't burn a lot of CDs or DVDs though.

I notice that Sic is using quicksilver... and i've just had a look at it... is there any benefit of it over using spotlight?

I could wax lyrical about how great Quicksilver is. It's definitely worth a try as if you are interested in integrate it, I've found that it's drastically changed the way I use my laptop. There are lots of alternatives, such as LaunchBar (not free, and probably not open source) but they don't offer the versatility, simplicity and interface that quicksilver offers, imo.

couple of useful links. It's one of those apps that you really need to be shown through at the start to appreciate the full benefit of it.

edit: I agree with LordSplodge - as it learns your preferences, and observes what you open when you type in certain search criteria it becomes even more useful. In my experience, Spotlight doesn't do this. In fact if, for whatever reason, I come to relaunch quicksilver, Spotlight always thinks I'm looking for QuickTime, then the dictionary definition, then Quicksilver. Good one.

There are a few video tutorials showing you the power of Quicksilver.

It's not my cup of tea, but it can be configured to be much more than an app launcher, and definitely worth a try if you can shoehorn it in to your workflow.
