I remember trying to get my head around looking with a mouse, coming frm PgUp and PgDn. Can't imagine anything other than WASD + Mlook being any way efficient

It's funny how individual we all are. I appreciate that most people use WASD, and maybe it's possible I could find it comfortable if I did give it a proper go; but having said all that, I still have no intention of trying it. :p :D

Old CS days I used to use:
RMB - forward
LMB - shoot
MMB - scope/silencer/burst
SPACE - jump
N - walk
M - crouch
, - left
. - right

Must have used that for a good couple of years before going back to WASD. First saw a mate try it and just got used to it :D

First experience I had with a weird config, was playing CS 1.4 on a mates PC with one of those stationary mice with the thumb wheel things.

Every time someone came around a corner you'd launch the mouse in the air trying to physically move it, instead of using your thumb to aim.

Annoying

I played Arma 2 with one of my mates quite a while ago and he had his really old joystick for flying set up in some strange way.

He had pitch up & down inverted, moving the joystick left or right controlled the rudder, twisting the joystick made it roll, his triggers controlled the flaps and landing gear and the buttons on his throttle controlled weapons and fired. It was a complete mess, but he could somehow fly it quite well until he had to make a tight landing, then it got funny :D

Everyone moans at me when we play Fifa at my house because I have all the buttons mixed up and have most of the assists turned off, It always gives me that thirty second advantage at the start of a match when they can't figure out why not it's passing to players properly and they keep crossing instead of shooting :D

Does that come from playing something with that config from ages ago and you just stuck with it? I honestly find it interesting how people come up with different configs from the standard wasd etc.

Arrow keys or joystick were the standard controls when I started gaming on a home computer.

Only game that was different was jet set willy, which was Z,X and Space.
