Your mp3 player's also the size of a house... did you have a pocket extension to carry it or something? :p

Phone - £40
Wallet - £20
Watch - £40
Clothes - £30
Shoes - £20
Glasses - £80 or if I wear lenses £0, Well they aren't going to nick them, Surely!
Braces on teeth £? A bit of metal (scrap value £?)
mp3 - £80

£300 maximum.

Normal

phone-150
wallet-50+20(contents)
shoes-35
clothes-200
glasses-250
watch-30
chain-between 20-80(depending which one)
keyes-0

Normal everyday stuff...

Phone (Nokia N80). About £375 if I had to replace with a sim free one.
Cash (usually around £50). Wallet itself not really worth anything, could replace it for £20.
Watch around £100
Clothes probably £75 for jeans and top, plus £50 for shoes, and £20 for boxers + socks

Total comes to £690

edit: If I've driven to somewhere I don't know I'll generally have my PDA on me too, but it's a couple of years old and could be replaced for £100 to 150.

Even so, after all that, it does surprise me the average given in the first post is so high.

Was every other person questioned wearing a Rolex?

Here is a link to the article if anyone wants to read it.

Factoring in glasses and watches, I can see how it could get up to £851 actually, especially those with luxurious taste, they'd bring the average up.

It looks like we're back on one of my favourite hates 'The whole world works in an office'.
If 8 out of 100 people carry a laptop then they must have questioned office workers.
I work on a factory of over a 1000 workers and nobody carries a laptop. If I drive around Stoke I can't say I've ever seen anybody carrying a laptop.
They've interviewed office workers in London.

I run home from work everynight and if I got mugged they'd take about -
Phone - £130
MP3 - £140
Works phone - £300
Running shoes - £100
Rucksack - £80
Cash - £30
My body and exceptional looks - £priceless

Says More than one in ten had a designer watch. I never wear a watch, i dont see the need to when i have a phone and Mp3 player in my pocket.

.......

I'm a field service engineer (not an office worker), and I carry a laptop. All our service manuals come in electronic format, so the laptop has replaced a bootfull of books. It's also used for running diagnostics, creating boot disks, configuring comms equipment, etc.
