Your thoughts please... 680 SLI and Surround or wait for GK110

I enjoyed it more tonight. I still need to adjust. I'm used to leaning left slightly as that was where monitor was before. That then throws the whole balance out!

Overall, the performance is where I'd expect although the MSAA 2x was a little bit of a shock. I need to find out what the utilisation is like in Surround though as I'm wondering whether PCI-E 3.0 could benefit that a little.

My BF3 playing performance has hit the floor. I don't know if it's because I'm playing rubbish or whether the set-up ain't helping. Time will tell!

Would you not try the FXAA injector thing? Lots of folks on here seem to use and like it.

Right I'm keeping it. I'm converted - I love it :). The key is to not use the two screens as main screens. I almost felt like I had to, to get my money's worth (they're pricey screens!) and that was definitely exacerbating the stretching.

Told you! No going back now is right.

Damn... this spanned resolution is INCREDIBLY annoying to work with... I can't get remote desktop sessions to go fullscreen on any monitor :(

Is there any way to switch back and forth between spanned resolution and normal, separate monitor, resolutions?

I only want the spanned res for games... never any other time.

Silly ultramon can't understand it either - so I've lost taskbar on the side monitors too!

Rather frustrated and I haven't played any games yet...

Same problems here. The annoying this is you can't set a profile to switch so if you go back to separate resolutions on each and run extended desktop, you have to re-do the Bezel correction.

Is this not much of a problem anymore then? Maybe just an annoyance? Worth it for the gaming?

It won't last for long. All your mess will start spilling on the the second and third screens soon enough. Your RAM usage will creep up with that too.

I don't look at them. They settle into the corner of my eye and you'll get a glimpse of someone in there. The fisheye effect is less than perfect although not game breaking... I just run permanently in surround now. Not a massive problem more like an other you can't get rid of.

Considering I use my PC for work and every time I go through the change it messes up my folder size settings & desktop icon locations (even with fences remembered locations)... it's EXTREMELY annoying.

Almost making me consider losing it.

But I love the triple screen gaming, so it's staying... just gonna have to wait til nvidia get their arse in gear.

Ultramon doesn't work either because it thinks it's only a single screen :(

Short and to the point:), always wondered what all the fuss was about with the cherry switches.

I have the Qpad QT85 - great keyboard, wouldn't go back to a non-mechanical.

Definitely makes more noise - but you get used to it within a couple of days.

Save/restore Icons not work in Ultramon?
Good point, haven't tried that yet - will give that a go.

It's not just the icons though, I run a good few rainmeter bits and pieces... no icon restorer can restore these locations :( Doesn't look like rainmeter can remember locations, either :(

Cherry Red's are really nice. I tried a couple other via people I know and felt this was the best switch for me.

They are nice to play in games like BF3 etc.

OT. I managed to ruin my Qpad only a week after I got it! Spilled half a mug of tea over all the switches, had to was them out and shorted something in the process. Bad times.

Why did you wash it while plugged in? lol... unplug it then wash it, then let it dry out before plugging back in :p

I didn't! I'm not that retarded! I disassembled and washed it, left it dry for 2 hours along with warm air from hairdryer and when i plugged it back in.....nothing. I'm going to reassemble it later to see if it dried out a bit more.

Bumping this to say that after the initial doubts about Surround having tried more games and letting it settle in there is no way back after playing in Surround.

I couldn't play GW2 in Surround for the first couple of days due to Surround resolutions breaking the camera and playing on a single 1080p screen felt claustrophobic to me. Having the two peripheral screens black with nothing on and my measly single screen with the game on... I felt trapped almost :D. It was very, very odd.

If you like eye candy you need to be prepared to sacrifice a lot of settings in some games to get playable FPS on a single card and even in 2 card SLI it is necessary sometimes to sacrifice any supersampling or other forms of high performance AA due to it requiring too much GPU power and framerates will be low. 2GB cards are fine for this resolution although I wouldn't try it on 2560*1440 x3 as it is fairly close on 3x1080.

An optimised set-up would consist of 3 GPU's (either highly clocked 7950/7970's or 4GB 670/680's) and you will be able to run maximum settings at nice FPS levels although this will of course sting the wallet somewhat (especially if you haven't already got an X79 motherboard!).

There are some serious driver annoyances to deal with which are irritating more than game breaking but nonetheless should be mentioned.

If you use your PC for applications such as Remote Desktop, Citrix etc then forget it. It doesn't work properly in Surround mode and you have to disable Surround to run extended desktop again. When you then want to go back to Surround the Bezel corrected resolutions aren't saved :(. Additionally when switching between SLI and single GPU sometimes the cards (for me) don't wake up when disabled which is infuriating as you need to hard reset :(.

Other than that though it's fantastic.

Yes... annoying to have to switch back and forth for work. Wish you could apply to just games or something.

The new beta's at least save settings when installing a new driver now :D. Getting there, slowly but surely.

It's because SLI Surround users are not that many and don't apply enough pressure (read: noise) to get it fixed.
