Your thoughts?

I've just dug out these pics taken from a backup CD of mine from 97/98, it's scary how tastes change but at the time these were the MkII golfs that impressed me:-

And my personal fav (at the time) was this 4WD twin engined beast

Penski, close - but it's not a Wolfsburg Edition (also known as 'Edition One'), try digging deep into your mk2 knowledge!!

Argh - it was in a double-feature in PVW alongside a Rallye!

One of 16 (or was it 60?) - G60 based, non?

You're close with 60, there were actually 70 built (only 2 on 3 door)

Not quite G60 based.....

try mixing rallye, G60 and 16v and see what you come up with ;)

wouldnt happen to be a Four-wheel drive. Supercharged 16V.. would it? ;)

Yay, we have a winner.

Golf Limited. 70 cars handbuilt by VW Motorsport, 4wd 1.8 16v supercharged. 215-220bhp. The most powerful golf from 1990 right up until the launch of the mk4 R32.

For some mad reason the engineers chose the 5dr shell on all but 2 cars. many of the parts are unique but look almost the same as a normal mk2. Eg the front bumper is unique & has different sized indicators. Why?? ask the mad germans who built it!!!

Also has proper 4wd, no haldex clutch rubbish!!!

Recognise that car, is it Rob Fish's G60 or his mate Dennis' 16v????

this really makes me miss my old G60 :( (looked very similar, but with 17" Azev A's, proper rallye lights and smoked indicators)
(And 210bhp!!!)

Errr...pass, these pics were scanned from Max Power (before it became a boob mag) back in 97/98, wouldn't have a clue on the details now. :(
