Your work/travel hours?

If I just want to arrive in time to start, the 0815 - 5.40.

However usually its more like 7.40 - 5.40; I generally leave earlier so I can be out of town and on the motorway before the school run gets going, and I like being in work early. Either get a headstart or catch up on the news etc.

14hrs is ridiculous, unless its for 150k a year and you have a plan to get out in 3 years with enough money saved for a house deposit for example.

(I live in Birmingham and would never(!) take a job in London)

Leave 9, arrive 9:30, work in central London Holborn :D

Finish working 5, home by 5:30 unless I decide to stay after work and continue playing Football Manager with my boss and co-work.

(just got Arsenal in champions league final vs United whom I have never beaten....)

leave at 6.40 to get to work on two (sometimes 3 trains)

get back around 5.30-5.45

Commuting kills far worse then working extra...its mind numbing and generally pritty bad with the people and the standing on packed trains....dam you christmas shoppers.

Leave around 8am. Get to work around 830am.

Leave work normally around 5pm - but sometimes will stay later. Home in 30 mins again.

8am till 545ish. On average.

Usually leave home at about 7.30 to be into work before 8, then leave work at about 5.15-5.30 to be home by 5.45-6 ish. Have had 1+ hour commutes when there has been an accident on the roads, which is frequent around here unfortunately.

08:30 - 18:00 if I leave on time. Used to commute which was 07:30 - 19:00.

I disagree with the comments about [rail] commuting being worse than working extra, as you can normally read on a train (sometimes not if it is really busy). Depends on how much you like your job I guess :) Obviously you run the risk of train delays though, and it is 'inefficient' commuting that grates me such as having to wait around for 50mins for a change etc.

Another thing I find a bit annoying is the expectation around travel time when working on client site or a different office, as this can mean much longer days without any additional pay. e.g. if I travel to one of our satellite offices it is 4hrs each way, so day visit even if I only actually work say 10:00-16:00 it still means leaving home 2.5hrs early and getting home 2hrs late. Can't really rock up at 12:30 and leave at 14:00, lol.

Mine Varies. I work lots of different sites, i am paid from when i leave my house. Could be one of my local sites so about 30 mins or a 3-4 hour drive.

I have did do stupid hours last year, leave home about 6am and get home around 3am. Not done that this year though.

Depends on my shifts exactly, but when I was working in East London on 12 hour shifts I had 45 mins-1 hr 30 (depending on where they put me) travel time, so it used to be something like leave at 0400 arrive back home at 1930...

At the moment I'm working somewhere 10 minutes from where I live, so I'm happy!

Home start, no unpaid comute :), as to hours, how longs a bit of string. Depends where the job is and what it is can be a few hours or 12+
