Your worst kitchen purchase

I use a hand blender almost daily, 1 banana + 2 cups milk + teaspoon vanilla extract (get it form Costco, much cheaper). Blended up = great breakfast milkshake. No added sugar or nonsense, just milk + banana making a smooth frothy and think shake.

Unfortunately Banana is the McDonalds Cheeseburger of the fruit world so that's not as great a breakfast as it might sound :p

My mum bought the misses and I a slow cooker 2 years ago. It only got used maybe 10 times then got put away. We are moving house soon so it will be back out and used again, especially over winter.

got to be the juicer/smoothie maker thing my wife bought.

Really heavy thick glass annoying as can be to clean, never gets used, in the way and because im a tight yorkshire man i refuse to spend on the stuff to put in it when i can buy it cheaper already made (and probably tastes nicer).

Recently just ditched the food processor for never being used. Bought a Morphy Richards toaster cheap which was a mistake, just over a year after purchase it only toasts one side of the bread.

Am I the only one who actually uses their breadmaker regularly? Mine has been used 2-3 times/week since I got it a few months ago. Costs about 40p/loaf I think on the Large setting. They do take up a lot of space I admit but cleaning it is fairly easy, as is filling it with ingredients.

Toastie maker on the other hand hasn't been used in 6 years. Can't bring myself to get rid of it though as I remember it made some nice toasties and has detachable plates for cleaning.

zero fat, high in Potassium, magnesium, Vitamin C and Vitamin B6

Bananas are great energy source in the morning.
I will often throw in other stuff, but a banana is a good starting point.

Bananas are quick fix energy and packed with calories hence why athletes etc love them, for a normal breakfast your needing something more slow release to last until lunch.

Is zero fat a sign of healthiness?

What happens when you eat food that has fat in it?

I eat tones of fat but don't need or want fat for breakfast.
When I wake up my blood sugar is low and a banana is a great way of getting energy in the morning or before going to the gym.

I can't process fatty foods in the morning, things like eggs really make me feel sick. A Banana milkshake easily sees me until my next meal, but that is often earlier than most people call lunch. I tend to go for a about 4-5 smaller meals a day, the last of which is around 7pm or earlier and the last meal is normally very small. After a light breakfast I get some meals with higher protein and fat content and larger quantities (grilled chicken, homemade curries/stews, etc.,) but generally the later in the day the smaller the quantity and the lighter it gets. Normally some fruit or salad early evening. This way I never get hungry, don't need to snack, never feel stuffed or starved, maintain a more consistent energy level, are into full before going to bed and have plenty of energy for exercising in the evening.

I pretty much never eat basic carbs like rice/pasta/bread, except occasional small quantities of brown rice/pasta. I get my carbs form fruit and veg, calories form fat and protein.

You are right. In a regular diet, compared to bacon, sausage, black pudding, french toast etc.

Banana is a healthier alternative for breakfast.

But that's not what he said, he said bananas are Maccy D's Cheeseburger of the Fruit world.

as opposed to Blueberries. Then again, banana isn't that bad, I am making a banana shake in the morning !

you are eating wrong if you wait until specific time to eat you next meal and get hungry waiting. That will simply lead to bigger portions and/or snacking.

If you are hungry at 11am just eat lunch!

McDs cheese Burger has high fat, high sodium and a ton of additives and tase like dirty babies napies comapred to a good burger. A Banana has low sodium, no fat, no additives sand tastes great (like most fruit) so I don't really get the comparison.
Yeah, there are other fruits that have higher vitamin contents and these I eat regularly as well - nothing beats a banana+ strawberry+fresh orange juice smoothie (or blueberry + banana, or anything with raspberries).

The fact is all fruit contains loads of sugar, little proteins and little fat. Not wise to eat too much but whenever you need a health snack or a bit of energy fruit is great option. Jerky is another great snack, good source of protein.

You are missing the point.

Of the FRUIT WORLD.

It was not about actual calories, fat, carbs, protein and all that crap content.

It was compared to other fruits, since when does other fruit has salt, addictive.

As for taste, that is subjective....i know people who think it taste like glue. I know people who think it tastes furry. I know people think won't touch it because it is radioactive. (seriously)

Don't mention other fruits because no other fruits has addictives.

It was merely a metaphor, you do know what that means right ?

Our worst purchase is probably a set of salt and pepper grinders, they never worked properly and I think they lasted about a week before being thrown in the bin and replaced with the cheapo ones we were using before. :p
