Works completely fine, also using a Shield (2015 version). I suggest using SmartTubeNext instead which is a complete rebuild of the app: https://github.com/yuliskov/SmartTubeNext
 
I used the India hack with a VPN. Around £4 for 3 months premium youtube, no ads for £1.40 per month. Result!
 
i solved the youtube ad problem by just not watching youtube any more. Even in between the ads, it's mostly just advertorial content anyway. Free yourself. Stop watching youtube
 
With the VPN trick do you have to be connected to the VPN whenever you watch a video or just when you signup to the premium subscription?

I signed up last year so can't say for sure if it works on new signups, it rebills each month with no issue. A few here have signed up recently though.
 
Tbh I forget ads are a thing - I’ve been using YouTube premium for over a year now, and haven’t had a single advert on any of my devices which use my YouTube account.

£1.90 for family too.
 
Do you have use a fake address or something? I dont understand how you can use an Indian VPN and then pay with your UK debit card and address.

I just google maps'd a tailor shop and used that address. My UK CC worked fine though and still rebills monthly, doesn't seem to be a check against payment address.
 
Wasn’t sure where to post this. The missus and I have recently realised we are both paying for YouTube Premium separately so as she uses my Netflix account she was going to upgrade her YouTube account to family and I’ll move over to that.

Does anyone know if my subscriptions and watch history will move over as well?

Do I just cancel my premium then join hers?

Did the same last night, gives me three months to figure out the VPN thing! The ads are out of control, I've had videos absolutely peppered with them lately as well as 20-25 second unskippable ones.
