Youtube forced name change

I doubt tor is compromised , I bet all the dealers that got arrested were ones buying from other dealers with there own accounts.

I remember a post someone made about how one of the UK dealers left feedback on a USA vendors goods.

the NSA/FBI were running the silkroad for awhile so if they (drug dealers) were that stupid they probably weren't using PGP either for the addresses and that's probably how the few that got arrested out of the thousands did.

Gonna get my door kicked in tomorrow for this post? :D

not that I ever bought anything on teh silkroad just used to find it interesting reading the silkroad forums after reading articles about the website.

BTW there's 2 silkroad alternatives already, the NSA/FBI should have kept quiet and tried to get as many people as possible instead of claiming an early victory

I don't think the NSA/MI5/MI6 are concerned with drug dealers. I think they are more concerned with national security.

You have to remember why drugs are illegal in the first place, it's not because it harms anyone, that's just the reason they use, the truth is far from it. Drugs are illegal because it's untaxed cash flow. They may have taken out a few of the bigger dealers on S.R. but they don't really care about the small-time home grower.

Just look at cannabis, less harmful than Alcohol, yet it's outlawed. Why? Because it's untaxed money just waiting to be grown. The phrase "money doesn't grow on trees" isn't entirely factually correct.

some people said they lost 16k+ of bitcoins when the SR website went down that clearly didn't get arrested if they are still here to post about it so a lot of them weren't small time especially from the minimum quantities they sold

go read the SR2.0 forum it's pretty interesting

anywya threads prob gonna get closed now you mentioned a drug :P

I'm amazed the SR guy had 28 mil of bitcoins confiscated though why didn't he get out after his first 1-2 mil and close the website then he prob never would have been caught

That's just the reason they will use. We all know the NSA has infiltrated all internet forums and they don't like us talking about them. :p

Greed has a weird effect on people. :/

But they can tax it and do in other countries and in some states of the US.

oh look what happens when you try to watch a youtube video via tor

The HTML5 canvas element functionality can be used to try to fingerprint your machine (http://cseweb.ucsd.edu/~hovav/dist/canvas.pdf) and/or track you via assigned identifiers embedded within images. It can be used for legitimate purposes as well. I think I read that TOR browser protections include an alert on an attempt to read data and the read returning phoney data. You'd have to dig into the webpage code to determine whether an alert corresponds to a legitimate or malicious attempt.

I think they are, but I think what they are most concerned with is knowledge of methods. Their job became instantly harder when the internet became mainstream.

I think if they pose a threat to national security then yes, but I don't believe they care about drug dealers generally. General drug dealing falls under the jurisdiction of the DEA and regular policing. Even the DEA will let a dealer become an informant if they can get to the lord.

I have no idea if Tor itself is compromised or not but its a lot harder these days to hide behind proxies, vpns (never been much use if your worried about gov/law enforcement) and even Tor type stuff.

Scary. Is that warning due to some plugin added to the Tor browser specifically or is that warning built into all versions of Firefox?

I'm not willing to test it, don't want to be anywhere near Tor or a commercial VPN.

I clicked yes to this originally. You can remove the link, but I can't remember how. The option to unlink it is hidden and deliberately obscure.nge thing to h

[edit] asim - what's wrong with tor and a vpn???

lol why not? TOR ain't dangerous it's just a web browser

stick it on a usb and run it in a virtual environment if you're paranoid

I don't know, it's just a popular thing one would use to hide themselves on the internet so I don't want get involved. :p

What's sad is there are 13 year old kids with their full name showing on YouTube - thanks to all the multiple requests and tricks to get you to show your full name. Quick Google and you have their FB. Some more Googling and you could have a map of all their social networks, interests life, school, etc.

What happened to the good old days of internet aliases. It's like Google/Government want to hold people accountable for everything that happens on the internet - or fill up their mainframes with as much profile data as possible.

This thread just made me unlink and delete google+ as I didn't even realise I had it.

Also unlinked my youtube, now with my alias, with google.co.uk. It seems I still have a log in for google.co.uk too!
